For the 1st time in my life something outside the normal routine happened.

http://www.couriermail.com.au/questnews/west/kenmore-state-high-school-evacuated-after-bomb-threat/story-fn8m0u4y-1226336075039

i don't care if it was a fake Bomb scare, at least it's something.

So since this needs discussion value, What interesting things have happened at your school, college, University, Workplace.

I feel guilty that I assumed that you went to an American school.

Irish schools are always really boring, at least when I was there, no one tried to or pretended to try to kill us off.

Damn schools in other countries, you scary.

At my school the students in their final year glued the locks on various doors and spray-painted rude messages about various teachers all around the place. Some of it was pretty funny. My English teacher said it was easy to work out who did it, cause there was only a limited number of pupils who were both trouble makers and able to use apostrophes correctly.

Oh yeah, and in my last few months during a half-term they found some randomer had hanged himself in the staffroom...it was pretty messed up.

Australia's pretty much just America with a parliament, so it's a pretty reasonable mistake.

We had some weirdo walk into the school one day, the students weren't told anything while it was happening so we were all locked in the classrooms wondering why the hell the bell for next class hasn't rung yet.
Then they spent a butt load of money on a large black fence that will clearly deter even the most savvy criminal scum from entering the school grounds!

In the five years that I was at high school there was three fires. I somehow managed to not be there on all three occasions.

My school is next to a small industrial estate (because that was literally the only place it could be built without the council having to beg a farmer to buy a field).
A couple of years ago, there was a fire in it. The school was on the news. Luckily, nobody at school was hurt.

Not really at the school, but my mate's pigs broke out of their pen with the assistance of a crack team of cows and chickens. So he missed lunch and half the period after lunch chasing a couple of pigs around the school and up the street (ironically, the street the pig would have to have taken would've led it to the butcher's).
That was a very silly day,
Friend: *comes in sweating*
Teacher: "Where have you been?"
Friend: "Chasing a pig up the street."
T: "Chasing a pig?"
F: "Yes."
T: "..."
Other Friend: *comes in, also sweating*
T: "I assume you were chasing the pig as well."
F: "Yes."
T: "How did it get out?"
OF: "A cow kicked open the gates."

We finally got a coffee machine for the students?

Apart from that, I really can't think of much else.

Although, the coffee machine is pretty cool.

Now I can have coffee every day.

Unexeploded world war 2 german bomb under my primary school.

Same primary school, half my classroom fell down a mine shaft.

Fortunately nobody was hurt in either of those events, but they were certainly.. interesting.

When I was in secondary school, they used to have leaving assemblies for the Year 11s on their last day of lessons before they did their exams. Two different years something interesting happened during each one -

1. I was in Year 7 at the time, and there had been a rumour that one of the Year 11s had brought in an air rifle that day. Police had to be stationed at the front and back gates of the school for about 2 hours until everyone had left. This was also my 12th birthday, so was kinda scary.

2. Two years after this, one of the pupils at the leaving assembly outed two of the teachers' secret relationship (despite the fact that everybody knew about it). Both teachers were married, one of them had a wife who had retired from the school a couple of years previously, and the other teacher looked like a cheap prostitute. She left voluntarily a week later.

The playground got evacuated when I was in primary school due to a lunatic with a shotgun hopping the fence. Luckily he didn't shoot anyone, but it was traumatic for a 9yr old..
This is in the UK also, with much tighter gun laws, you don't see them nearly as often as in the USA.
of all the times I've walked around the park i have yet to see someone wave around a shotgun...or any gun

OT: a kid called in a bomb threat on my school...and he actually had a bomb! it was a smoke grenade... or something like that
