My word L4D2 is a joyless experience offline.

Repetitive isn't exactly a very subjective word, y'know. No, I'm not trying to start something, just saying that CoD is in the mind of alot of people among the most repetitive there is when it comes to gaming. But whatever, you seem to be getting highly offended by people not liking Call of Duty, so I'll back off.
Getting offended because people don't like COD? I chuckled out loud at that one.

Read my post again, paying close attention to the part where I wrote 'people like different things'.

I couldn't care less who likes the same games as me. As long as I enjoy them I'm happy.

Insult COD all you want, I couldn't give a headcrab's vagina what you think of it.

But don't use it as leverage to imply that enjoying one particular game that you may not like invalidates one's opinion on another, as you did in your initial post.

Whoa, wait the new slim model xboxes have a wifi card installed, where are you because in the UK I dont think you can really get the older models new anymore.

4gb flash ram model = £129.99
250gb harddrive model should be about £190, with stuff.
Got it used you plum =P Managed to get the console and both games for £140 =D

Single player helps if you're just starting out with L4D and need to know sticks and stones of all the maps. Once that's done get GOLD and start playing online with others, then it becomes quite amusing.
That seems to be the only use in my eyes, AI bodyguards or not, I've played enough games that feature AI co-op play that have me doing all the work.

LFD2 on Steam has always been a hoot. I can play for hours and lead the team in infected kills, damage done, assists, ect.

I've tried it on console, and I just can't get in the groove of it. The controls are all off for me. I tried to multiplay it online with the 360, and all I did was manage to get booted five minutes in. Fully understandable, since it seemed like I was using my face to operate the controller.

On the PC I'm a crack shot. On the console, I'm shooting crack, apparently.

Really? I prefer offline since I have no one to tell me that I suck and try and kick me outta the game. Good times.

I actually prefered it offline, sure its a bit lifeless, but you don't have a bunch of dick running around either.

The new xboxs have wifi installed, where did you even get one without?

You get 3 months XBL free when you sign up

No more complaints.

It definitely works better online! As long as you get a decent team, of course...
I realize price may be an issue if you have to buy a new pc to be able to run it, but did you ever consider just getting it on the pc? It's best played on that.

To be honest Miracle you do tend to rage whenever anyone insults [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.187182-Modern-Warfare-2-why-it-makes-people-angry-Read-if-youve-ever-played-the-game?page=1] CoD.[small]/sarcasm[/small].

Y'know, I never said that I dislike CoD, I merely said that alot of people do, and that it's what alot of people would call repetitive. Not that I considered that to be the case. I think CoD is pretty fucking fun and all, so please, don't mistake me for someone who's doing what the rest of the internet is doing and mindlessly bashing the series.

That's why I tried to point out the whole "I'm not trying to start anything" at the very start.
Ok, it's pretty clear where this is going, so I'll just point out, in advance, that you claimed "other people" found CoD repetitive, as an argument as to why Miracle's opinion on L4D isn't as valid as anyone else. Don't deny that much, because whether you meant it or not that was the implication. There're different style of repetition, in a game like CoD the game might not be repetitious at all - after all it's multi-player so the same thing rarely happens twice, it's only repetitious as in gameplay style, but this is the case in almost any game. Whilst in L4D there're only a small number of possible places the horde will spawn, and even if they spawn in a different area you're still ultimately doing the same thing continuously, rather than facing constant unique situations.

Part of the issue was the Dead Center is pretty heavy on the alternate objectives (things beyond shoot zombies, reach safe room) with the cola/gas can tasks. Dark Carnival, Swamp Fever, and Hard Rain don't feature such alternate objectives, which makes them a bit more enjoyable with bots, since the bots are passable at running and shooting.

Fair enough, but then don't say peoples' posts are 'hilarious' when they like COD but criticise another game.

I could just as easily say 'that was the dumbest post I ever read and I hate you and I hope that you step in zombie shit on your way to work and bla bla troll troll' and then say 'by the way - not trying to start anything'.

I enjoy offline quite a bit myself, I tend not to play online unless I know at least one person in the party, so I end up playing offline a lot.
Being forced to do all the tasks yourself can be sorta annoying, but like with the Cola it takes all of about a minute or two to complete, the finale to Dead Center and The Passing are the only ones I found particularly annoying and even then the entire rest of the experience is still good.
It didn't really affect me overall though, I play Left 4 Dead 2 to kill lots of stuff, and playing Offline has not interfered with that at all, even in stages that require carrying things I always end up with more kills than my AI partners and I'm always satisfied at the end.
Playing online (with good people) does give an overall better experience, but I don't find it contrasting too greatly. I've quite happily played through the entire campaign repeatedly offline and on.

I don't mind it. I really only like online if I only play with friends anyway. Other people suck when they're on my team and kick my ass when they're on the other team.

I still can't believe that thread got a hundred thousand views. Madness.

I miss the old MW rage sometimes :D

For those calling me a COD fanboy:

And the AI is terribad. Can't rely on them for shit.
Yeah I remember when a Smoker strangled me from near full health while they stood right next to me and watched the whole time. Kind of hilarious in hindsight.

I never really enjoyed L4D online or off to be honest. It felt dull, boring and repetitive to me.
Aren't you like somewhat of a CoD fanboy? I'm not trying to start anything, or trying to insult you. I'm just saying that I think I've seen you praise those games more than once, and if that's the case, I think this statement of yours is pretty hilarious.
Yes, I am a COD fan. A big one. I'm also a huge Valve fan.

And yes, you are clearly trying to start something.

People like different things. What you find repetitive, I may not and vice versa. So get over yourself and try not to hit your head when you fall off your high horse.
Rule of thumb - the first person to break out the insults is the first one to be wrong.

If you justified your position as to why you didn't like L4D2 (a strategic team-based shooter) but you did like COD (also a strategic team-based shooter), instead of attacking him for pointing something out, you might add something worthwhile. Can you really not see why this seems odd in context?

I just think it pales in comparison to that other Valve game with that other protagonist and would much rather they released it instead.

You know the one.
Ricochet ... 2? OH GOD ;D

Ya I kinda prefer the AI partners. They will NEVER friendly fire you, their aim is really good, and they always put you (The human player) first because it's gameover if you die.
You say this but what you forget is how much the bots have changed in the patches. I played L4D2 (solo) on a friend's xbox whilst it was d/c'ed from the internet (he uses the same cable for both computer and xbox and was facebooking/skype/socialising whatever at the time) and MY GOD the bots used to be so retarded. I mean, they still are but no where near to the same extent, it probs why the guy who made this thread found the game dull.

But yeah, I generally dont play offline/solo much anymore, got boring. I like to yell/laugh at people which doesnt happen with bots because they dont respond

Yeah by yourself it's bad. But when you're playing splitscreen it still is pretty enjoyable. Try it with another person.
