Can the PC "Vanilla" version (no Mods that is) have the in-game models look that good? My PC would start smoking if I attempted to run anything more complicated than Minesweeper so I really don't know what it would look like at the highest resolution.

Most probably when you install the high-res texture DLC (there is a free one from Bethesda. Adds ~3 gigs if I remember correctly).

Even with the pack Skyrim doesn't look that good.

It's either pre-rendered or something else entirely.

I guess it's mission accomplished for Bethesda marketing twitter. They've got me running around making unrelated game references and people inventing erotic kinect RPGs. Though I should note that it isn't a real RPG if the core mechanic is some kind of kinect action game.

I think he meant "Shivering Isles-esque" in the sense of "a goddamn huge expansion pack", not the Shivering Isles specifically.
