There are two stone griffins in the third image.
And we're to be excited about sculptures? Colour me confused and not really interested.
If you understand the lore, it's potentially very exciting. It could be an old Grey Warden fortress that, from the looks of things, is in a lost Dwarven Thaig.

Yeah, I'm aware of the lore, but how is it any more exciting than anything else? Perhaps I got the wrong impression, but I thought this was supposed to be alluding to the presence of real, actual, live griffons, which would indeed be a big thing considering they're supposed to be extinct and stuff of legends. A Grey Warden fortress is cool I suppose, nice location, but hardly unique or surprising.
Hence "potentially".

There could be a secret sect of Grey Wardens there that didn't go to Orzammar when their time came and they went insane but are now a kind of cult.

Or maybe there's one Grey Warden there that's taking care of the last gryphons.

OR MAYBE THERE'S A PORTAL TO THE FUTURE OF OUR UNIVERSE AND HAWKE ACTUALLY HELPS COMMANDER SHEPPARD FIGHT THE REAPERS... nah.

But to be fair, I'd be excited if there was just more to learn about the Wardens. I'm like that :p

$100 says Dragon Age 3 will be a prequel.
I'll take that bet.

Considering DA2 was basically a setup for DA3, I think the odds are in my favour ;)

Cool, now I can ride my griffon up and see where that inevitable second wave of enemies is jumping from...

Could this mean that DA3 will actually have variety to the game environments and not the same boring and uninteresting maps repeated again and again and again and...

But are there Griffins in this story Wynne?
Im not interested if there aren't Griffins.

Best conversation in the game. Here's hoping they learned their lesson for DA3.

Looks interesting. I'm ready for another playthrough of Dragon Age 2, so some new DLC might help make it even better.

In the first game I though they said something about Gray Wardens of the past having griffins that they would ride. Their shields have griffins so it'd only make sense to throw up a couple griffin statues.

Maybe they should hire terry pratchett to write the story from here on out >.>
That would be awesome

Still, I'm pleased that Bioware are at the very least acknowledging the, uh, shortcomings of the first game. Like alcoholism, admitting you have a problem is always the first step! Now let's get fixing them!

I'd say it's DA2 DLC. It's Bioware, they wouldn't even be talking about the next game in the series until the total cost of the DLC exceeded the cost of the game itself.

Now, I had some fun with DA2, but if this is them trying to sell me some new environments instead of the same caves/beaches that I walked through a million times I wouldn't be surprised.

Yay, Griffins! That was what Dragon Age 2 was missing, mounts! :S Not a decent story or anything, mounts is what we needs!

Just scrap DA2, retcon it into some other franchise and let DA just be the first one. No sequels, no prequels, nothings! Just a good stand-alone game, what's wrong with that?

Stone griffin statues. Nothing exciting.

I hope this game won't suffer from copy/pasted dungeon syndrome.

Nice looking teaser pics though.

That's kind of cheap. Trying to induce hype over a couple of map screen shots.

Honestly never saw much connection between Grey Wardens and griffons. I get they're the traditional mount, but they never really run with it in the game. I can't remember seeing even a painting of a Warden riding a griffon.

... admittedly I never finished the first game.

You know how this works: they set up a sequel, milk it for as long as they can with prequels, DLC and mobile phone games, then come back and do the 'epic' reveal everyone's beating waiting for.

Kinda like Assassin's Creed. Kind of. In a way.
You could add Kingdom Hearts to that list as well.

I'll be keeping an eye on the direction the Dragon Age 2 team take. Hope they can knock that hubris on the head and admit the problem was theirs and not the players.

I'll watch these DLCs on Youtube though, not a chance I'd waste money on Bioware DLC, even at its best, you get very little content. I can't even imagine how bad Dragon Age 2 DLC would be, considering how bored I got with the main game.

My guess for the DLC:
Bioware will hype up the Griffin thing, then in the actual DLC, Hawke will go explore some Grey Warden ruins, fight zombie/skeleton Wardens, uncover some ancient mistake, get a new overpowered DLC weapon, and MAYBE a griffin will show up for the boss fight. All the dugeons will be new and unique to to make a point, but everything else will be lazy and phoned in.

I dare Bioware to prove me wrong.

Yeah, except that what he probably means is "Man, I haven't been drinking enough!"

Those "shortcomings" are probably things like "Random buttom mashing wasn't as effective as it should have been. DA3 will make sure that A stands for Awesome even harder!."
