OT: Why does no one seem interested in egyptian mythology?
Hmm maybe it's because the egyptians weren't as awesome as any of the other civilzations with good mythology since the greeks fought epic wars as did the vikings but the egyptians were known to lie down on the battlefield so death came quicker...pussys:p
What does their conduct in battle have to do with their gods (apart from the obvious lack of Valhalla)? I thought the question was about which you'd like to exist not which you'd go to war for.
Well I guess the gods reflect the people, I came to know the greek and norse mythology reading about there battles and the egyptians havn't really stood out to me for that reason but thats only my reason why.

That would be pretty awesome.

Especially awesome would be watching Zeus fight Thor.
What kind of fight is that? That's a nigh-instant victory for Thor! XD

Yeah, apart from creepy stuff like the original version of cinderella...
Cinderella isn't nearly as bad as some of the others. In the original sleeping beauty story she was raped by the prince while she slept and didn't wake up until she'd given birth to twins and one of them sucked the poison out of her finger. There is also a lot of rolling down hills in barrels full of spikes.

Well it would be cool. Until the hydra kills you.
Or the Chimera, or Jabberwocks, or Manticores, or Minotaurs, or ya you get the picture.

Child Snatchers.

Demons.

Dragons...

The magic would be nice though.

They had a giant beast that ate your heart if you had commited more sin than good when Anubis judged you for going to the after life.

Eternal torment for sinning once more than you did good. That's way harsher than most of the other religions we talk about.

Also I really like their mythology, it's nifty!

I'd want one of the mythologies that imply a cycle of reincarnation. Norse and Greek mythologies, along with the Abrahamic religions all involve inescapable afterlives. If you get the wrong one, or the right one doesn't appeal to you, you're screwed essentially.

No mythology would not be fun.

I hate doing the garbage enough without Minotaurs being involved, I hate boats enough without Krakens there to fuck my ship up.

Besides, mythological gods are always screwing human chicks. Not cool.

I guess I could be a Viking, mostly just because stealing from British people sounds like a good vacation.

I think people would adapt rather quick, tho in my head it would be quite cool,

if anything life would be like an rpg, tho would keep one of those riddle books handy incase i came across a sphinx, hoping the answer would just be man so i could go on my way and a mirror incase of gorgons, and on the fairy tail note, if i came across the big bad wolf........well i had a fun adventures life im sure.

Greek religion was always rather desturbing for me, espec zeus, herc and any1 related in the slightest to zues, he turned himself into a goose so he could get into his sisters close then shagged her :S

but if life kinda was rpgish then id happily go adventuring, grinding slightly until i could take on the bigger nasties :D and hopefully nt hav to fight an apocolyptic god :p

Yeah I can see what you mean. Get away from all the brong everyday stuff and so.

But I guess in the end we'll just have to be happy we don't live in a 3rd world county and so, armate?

EDIT: Fix'd the picture.

Possibly because Egypt was conquered by the Romans around caesar's time which meant that their religion was largely undermined in favour of Roman mythology.

Partially it is related. If you were conquered it was because the enemy had stronger gods (at least that's what the enemy would say).
On topic: Mythology is interesting but I certainly wouldn't want to be near it if it was real (far too dangerous).

That would suck. The "gods" would always be at war with each other and thus we would have total chaos.

Good idea for an RPG though. Write that down.

No, thanks... Have you played God of War? Life is not nice to mere mortals: most of the time we would end up as dinner of some creature.

I wouldn't like either having a lot of inmortal and inmoral beings controlling the fate of mankind just for fun.
