"You're not weak." he commented. He was kind-of following her as she walked, but at the same time he was half-aware that they weren't going anywhere in particular.

"I'm alright, I guess. I'm still happy to be free, but this business of swapping enemies for allies, and fighting god's and demons . . . aren't you scared, at all?"

At this point, he subconsciously made it his mission to get Eryn to open up; even if it was only a little. Hiding all your emotions isn't a healthy thing, he knew. And he figured the reason she was like that was because she had never had anyone to listen and care about how she felt. And it made him feel more important; in the midst of a holy war in it's most literal sense, the shapeshifter was already finding it easy to feel like a pawn. Maybe he could find some validation by helping her.

"I never said I was weak.." Eryn said under her breath. Though Eryn would never admit it, she did cry a lot when she was young, especially after her first transformation. At the time she had no idea what she was or how to control her transformations. Back then she cried almost every day.

"Only an idiot wouldn't be scared", she said, finally answering Wesley's question. "We could die. All of us. If we do, then everything we've done up to this point will have been a waste and the world will be destroyed. Yes, I'm scared."

She finally stopped as they neared a living-room type area. "Why are you so interested in how I feel?" Eryn asked bluntly.

"Well . . . I care because . . . " he paused, unsure of what to say. "I just feels important to me, that I ask. I want to know, and . . . I care about how well you are."

Wes swallowed hard, feeling very nervous suddenly. He could feel his cheeks and ears getting hot as they blushed red. Never in his life had he had an experience like this, not even during his childhood and adolescence. And though he'd never felt particularly lonely, he never felt a need to be close to someone like he did for Eryn.

Eryn could feel the heat rise up in her face and took a small step back. Wesley's little confession had caught her off guard and she had no idea how to react. No one had ever really cared about how Eryn felt, except for her foster mother. People usually disliked her because of her cold personality, or just ignored her altogether. Eryn was fine with that, but hearing Wesley say that he cared made her heart flutter.

What the hell was that?

A few awkward, and silent, minutes passed before she said anything.

"Yes.. well.. Thank you." Eryn cleared her throat, wondering what to do and say next.

Wes's heart pounded in his ears for those tense minutes of silence. He wasn't sure if he's said something wrong, because she seemed to be blushing like he was. But finally, she spoke up. It wasn't what he had been expecting her to say, but then again; he had no idea what to expect.

"You're welcome . . . " He rubbed the back of his neck, feeling like something had been lost between them. There was nothing that came to mind for what to say next, or whether he should leave or stay with her. They both seemed to be awkwardly avoiding eye-contact.

"I . . . I guess if you're okay . . ." he said feebly, unable to finish.

Eryn didn't know how to respond. Her cheeks still felt warm and there was an odd sensation in her stomach. It felt like.. little bugs were fluttering about in her belly. She had never experienced that particular feeling before. Whatever was causing it was making her uneasy. All she wanted was for it to stop and go away.

The awkwardness seemed to drag on for eternity. Finally, after deciding she had had enough of the uncomfortable tension, Eryn spoke.

"Well, I'm fine. All we've been talking about is me though.." She said, trying to change the topic. "Are you scared?"

"I think that we're all scared..." Burst said, coming around the corner, feeling this was a good moment to break up the awkwardness between the two. He could smell the pheromones that the two were emitting, it was somewhat endearing, like a pair of schoolchildren working up the nerve to tell the other that they 'liked' them. "Even the Mother is scared."

Burst's wings fluttered slightly, a nervous habit, as he addressed the two.

"We'll be going up against beasts we've never faced before, and likely be outnumbered." Burst continued. "That is, at the very least, unnerving.."

Anthony sighed feeling the final pains from the Satan's Bane removed from his system. He sat back trying to stretch all the muscles that had likely been pulled, torn, anything like that. He was in rough shape and he knew it. Why did he keep pushing himself for a cause that he couldn't even share in at the end of it all; this was not the world for him it seemed.

He pulled out his tin of cigarettes and ignored the no smoking sign posted in the med clinic itself and lit one, allowing the tobacco to course through his system. He placed the tin beside him with the ladder and motioned to Justin inquiring silently to whether he wanted a smoke or not.

"Mmm, chronic carbon monoxide poisoning," Justin commented, taking a cigarette. "It was tough keeping up with those meatheads since I didn't have as much time to work out, so I didn't ever smoke and rarely drank. But if they say these things calm you down, might as well try one." He held the cigarette out long enough for Anthony to light it, then took a long drag before breathing it out to his left. Letting out a small cough, he picked up the folder with his free hand but still didn't open it.

"There any particular time you want my decision? I'd like to sleep on it, if I can."

Wesley nodded at the dragonkin, happy to have him around to break the tension. With a sigh, Wes rubbed his eyes and thought about his answer. He didn't really feel scared, but he knew he should. Perhaps it was his all-consuming confusion that was keeping him occupied. Confusion about their purpose, and their allies, and of course about Eryn.

"I'm more worried than scared. Not for myself, but for everyone else in the team . . . and on Earth." He looked down as he finished, as if the reality of fighting to protect an entire planet had just hit him. Fighting for himself or for the Blackjacks had come easy to him, but this was an entirely different scale. "We'll be against the best Heaven and Hell can throw at us . . . I guess I am scared."

Eryn was relieved when Burst walked into the room because some of the awkward tension seemed to dissipate. She made a mental note to thank him for it later. Whatever she was feeling was confusing her, a lot, and she had no idea how to deal with it, or if it was worth dealing with.

"So we're all scared. That's good to hear, I guess. Well, I'm going to go and find Ms. Hoover. You know, make sure she doesn't try and escape.. I'll see you two later."

And with that Eryn walked out of the room, leaving Burst and Wesley alone.

"Okay, then." Wes said after Eryn as she left. He let out a heavy sigh, feeling almost exhausted suddenly. Running his fingers through his greasy hair, he looked up at the taller mythos.

"How long were you listening to us, Burst?" he asked, his nervousness showing in his voice; as well as something like shame.

"Only a minute or two... But I can literally smell how you two were feeling. Pheromones in the air reveal your heart's intentions." Burst explained. "You're infatuated with her... It's nothing to be ashamed of."

Burst placed his clawed hand on Wes' shoulder, and smiled a toothy smile at him.

"She feels similarly... but might not realize it yet." Burst noted. "Also... she's got issues that you'll have to work through if you want to pursue this... Just remember, we have an important mission ahead of us. One of you may potentially die... so keep each other safe. Keep everyone safe."

"You can smell it?" Wes asked curiously, his face flushing again. He took an experimental sniff of the air, but couldn't discern anything that would betray his feelings. But he knew from his experiences in more scent-oriented forms that certain things are just interpreted differently. Perhaps it had something to do with Burst being more dragon than human.

He sighed as the dragonkin finished speaking, and put a hand on his shoulder. "Thank you . . . I'll be sure not to forget the mission." Wes put his hand on top of Bursts in a thankful gesture. The contact was comforting, despite the hard and rough feeling of the claws, as was the affirmation that Eryn really did share similar feelings for him.

i leave for one week and it lives again! ^_^ btw i'm not going to keep putting aggresive in so until i highlight a change this'll be Azure's aggresive side for now.

Azure wandered around, he had nothing to do and no one interesting to talk to, at least not as far as he was concerned, he wound up in a large open room before slumping against a wall.

"well this place is boring, grand architecture is good when it's useful, but this is fairly useless." he slid down to the floor where he sat for a few moments before thinking about what to do as well as what he currently had to work with.

"I may seem like a brutish warrior at times... But I still have a heart underneath these scales and sinew." Burst made a slight rumbling in his throat, that sounded almost like a deep purr, and patted the changeling's shoulder. "I trust both of you to be able to work towards the mission, as well as your own personal goals. You are both strong people. I respect that."

Burst removed his hand from Wes' shoulder, and began to walk back around the corner, before stopping.

"If you wish to talk, do not be hesitant. I'm over a century old... I understand many things." Burst offered to Wes. "I can give advice on many subjects."

Wes gave pause as Burst offered advice. He did enjoy talking with the dragonkin, even if it wasn't for a subject of importance. And he trusted Burst. There were things he was curious about, but none he'd be really comfortable talking about . . . at least not within earshot of anyone other than the one he was talking to.

While Wes did come off as naive at times, he really wasn't as clueless as he appeared. But his animalistic nature tended to make him less capable of acting civilized around people, and since he was forced to swap human-society to mythos-society in his mid-teens he just found himself confused at times when around people.

"Well, I wouldn't mind talking." Wes said, somewhat nervously. He had a feeling that if he started talking, he'd say more than he wanted. But for some reason, he felt like he was tired of keeping secrets. As if whatever happened in his life before his imprisonment no longer mattered. "As long as you don't have anything else to do."

Eryn walked around for a few minutes before she finally found Ms. Hoover. She was sitting on an antique looking couch, resting her head on the armrest and snoring lightly. The sight of her mother made Eryn somewhat uncomfortable, but she quickly pushed the feelings aside and decided to wake her up.

"Hey", she said, nudging Ms. Hoover with her foot, "wake up or I'll throw you outside." She got no response.

"I don't think I'm too entirely busy." Burst said to Wes. "If you wish to speak now, then come with me. We can speak in confidence in my quarters."

Burst lead Wes to his own dormitory in the complex, where it would be easier to speak in private to the changeling.

Wes stepped into the room and closed the door behind him. It was very simple, and pretty much an exact copy of the room Wesley was assigned for their stay. Just a bed, a desk, a dresser, and a mirror.

"Burst, how important is it for you to . . . be able to change form?" Wes sounded a bit awkward as he posed the question. It was something he was very curious about, but had never really had to opportunity to ask other mythos about.

As he heard himself speak, he realized that the question seemed very out-of-the-blue. "I mean, most mythos can change their form to look human or something else. But it seems the opposite for me. I'm mostly human, but my ability to change into something else makes me into a mythos. I'm just wondering if it's as important to you."

The ordeal with the "cure" was making him give a lot of thought to the nature of his powers. One little piece of technology could effectively turn Wes into a normal human.
