Empires rise and fall, the Mother thought as she sat in her chambers alone, surrounded by the screens of the world. She forced herself to watch as the Mythos felt the consequences of Anthony's groups' actions. Machinegun fire in London, rattled the ears of civilians as the London guard took down some rioting Mythos. She switched screens to Africa where primitive tribes cooked the Mythos and ate them expecting powers, while "civilized" cities continued an ongoing powerstruggle, arms falling into children's hands and Mythos rebels. Blood now ran through the streets of the cities. Empires are formed in blood, sweat and tears of the oppressed, she thought quietly as she watched her two creations slaughter each other as if they were mere animals. The species she had raised above animals, turned out to be more like them than she had ever expected. A tear ran down her fair face as they slaughtered each other. All because she had intervened, all because of one action, this happened, everytime she tried to fix it, it simply crumbled again. Humans were powerful corrupt and plentiful. The originals, now known as Mythos were similar, without the numbers, they could not sustain war like humans.
She, a deity, could not decide what to do, would it be worth it to start again, she had done that once with Noah, but yet wickedness continued. She thought of the destroyed Greeks, Spartans, Romans and Huns she had used as tools to prevent a world empire. How Genghis Khan conquered Asia with her help and was destroyed by her hand as to prevent him from spreading. She had vowed not to interfere, but it always seemed necessary. Here she was dipping her hand into world affairs again, despite saying she wasn't. She was no better than those she condemned. More silent tears ran down her face for her world's losses, the people who would never see life again, the children that lay cast away in the streets, their small faces frozen in shock; in death they looked into the Mother's own soul. She could look anymore. It was now that Luca walked into the room to see her in tears, "I am sorry Mother, shall I come back at a more appropriate time?"
She looked at him and for a moment saw Judas in his eyes. He was the one disciple that could do what the others couldn't and betray her to the Romans to begin the destruction of the Empire. She had died on that cross, having set the seeds for the Huns to gain power with Attila eating the Apple and rallying his troops against a crippled Roman Empire. They had ironically called Judas the Betrayer, yet it was the Mother herself who had betrayed her own people to "save them."
Powers that were beyond the Mythos and the Human's; that was what she was playing with now; they were powers that even she was scared to dabble with. "Come in Luca, its fine, I was actually just about to call for you anyways. Anthony is coming back with a UN human, this is your chance to convince her that we are not the true enemy..." she trailed off as if thinking about something else, "Actually bring her and the Mythos is here, I'll talk to her myself and we'll see what happens from there."
Luca backed away shocked for a moment, "Mother are you insane? You can't keep showing yourself to humans, one day they will betray you."
The Mother snapped back, "Its thoughts like that, which continue to build hostility between the races, do as I say and I will forget this happened Luca."
His face softened, "I am sorry Mother, I will do as you say," he walked out of the room to leave the Mother to her tears.
Anthony landed harder than he expected, but still managed to dip Eryn and her mother on the ground softly before sinking to the ground in exhaustion. He saw Burst with Justin in his claws land and he smiled weakly, most of the adrenaline gone from his body, "Justin, I could really use those medical expertise of yours now," his complexion was even paler than normal and he was having trouble maintaining consciousness.
Justin began to walk towards him, when Luca came in to interrupt, "Sorry Anthony, but you're going to have to wait. The Mother requests an audience with the Humans and Mythos."
"Are you serious?" Anthony gasped, but staggered towards the entrance.
They walked towards the Chambers, Anthony limping ahead of the rest of the group before the doors opened before them, exposing the Mother. They all saw her, though in different forms, whatever they found fair and attractive they saw instead of the Mother. She spoke calmly, showing none of the weakness she had succumbed to before, "My Children. I am the Mother, the Creator, Nature and all other deities you might and would have heard about before me. I am Alpha and Omega, beginning and end. I have met with you today, so that you may believe and assist me in the quest that I have already sent Anthony on, a path that will literally take you to Heaven, Hell and back here. I am asking, not that these realms be destroyed, but rather deterred from our own Realm. This is something that has been years coming and now is only coming to fruition around us. We would be able to fight, if not for our own Civil war that plagues us. We need to stop that, before the Leaders of your United Nations destroy what little hope we have. This is you mission, your new purpose, if you do choose to help me."
