Justin took his rifle off of his back, leaned it against the wall behind his chair, and sat down opposite of Azure. Sighing, he relaxed his body and looked up at Azure.
"I used to work at one of those 'detention camps' the government contracts out to certain companies," he began. "Only, 'torture camp' would be more accurate. Guards interrogated every prisoner, abused them. The females that had an attractive human form... yeah. I didn't do that stuff, I signed on as a combat medic after I finished their training. So, no interrogations for me, I just did patrols. The others were rough on the Mythos we had, and I just had to keep them from dying, keep them barely alive."
"There was this one vampire, she was kept in solitary confinement. Not because she was overly dangerous, but the complete opposite; she stopped giving them trouble after the first time a guard used her in the interrogation room. I don't know if she was really broken or just pretended to be, but she played it well." Justin rubbed his left arm before he continued. "I'd take a needle and get some blood out of my arm every time I went by, or if I didn't have one I'd just cut with my knife. I figured eventually she'd get a chance to get out, and I'd help at least one of them get away from the real monsters."
"One night, some Mythos attacked the camp, so I rushed to solitary to make sure she got out. I took a round to the leg but we made it into the woods, where I patched it up." He stopped as he thought about that night, picturing her standing over him in the moonlight, as he was the helpless one. "She pointed in one direction, and ran in another, so I made my way to a Mythos camp eventually. I told them how I got her out, left out a lot of details, and let them inspect everything I had. They decided I wasn't much of a threat to them, or a spy, so they let me in."
"I never knew her name, never heard her voice, but those eyes... I'll never forget them. They keep haunting me when I'm not fighting, and I see her every now and then when I blink. I just want to find her, but I know you guys are more important, because this is where I am now. I gave up everything to help Mythos, and I'll give up what little I have left if it makes a difference. But if I survive, I have to find her."
