"honestly, you people know nothing about revenge, the whole eye for an eye thing is rather vague on multiple people anyway, let's look at the facts, yes, they did TRY to kill her and left her with a traumatic memory she might never forget without help, but killing them? come on, i think of worse things to do to people in my sleep, i mean you could do the whole 'treat others as you wish to be treated' thing but let's be honest, which of you could live with the image of a screaming human with no skin? i mean sure i wouldn't mind, the angel seems to be bitter enough to do something of the sort and the wolf would probably do it on impulse while regretting it later, i expect you guys want to come out of this whole thing with some credibility as Mythos? then let me handle it, as i suggested before, trust me, i'll make them dread the day of their death for every second they're alive, to the point of madness." Azure smiled at the thought, he was eager for this chance to lay down a bit of retribution. "heck i might even throw in a free killing spree, a child would shoot anything when he's a gibbering wreck."

Wes wrung his hands together as they all spoke, popping his knuckles in doing so. I must have done something wrong. She pulled away so quickly . . .

But as ideas started to fly, he was brought back to the task of importance. So many differing opinions. But he knew that killing them would do no good. The humans would just chock it up to 'the murderous mythos'. Any crime the boys did would be forgotten.

He spared a side-long look at Azure. Something about him seemed wrong to Wes, and it wasn't just the fact that he seemed psychotic and all-too-familiar with all the courses of action he was suggesting.

"How would sending you alone preserve our credibility as mythos? You're not human, so it wouldn't matter if you were alone or with a group: the blame would still be on our race."

He took a moment to think, then continued. "I would mark them. A brand, a scar . . . some kind of disfiguring injury that would always be with them, and be a constant reminder of the cost of their actions. Even better, if it were obvious to others as well."

After hearing Azure's rant, Justin subtly stepped away from him, cocking an eyebrow at how well thought-out the bloodthirsty statements appeared to have been.

"Even better, if it were obvious to others as well."

"You'll want something on the forehead or cheeks, then," he suggested, thinking back to some of his old teammates' battle scars. "Those are spots you can't really hide in public without drawing some kind of suspicion. I'd say cheeks, can't cover 'em with a hat."

"Although it is inhumane... a brand would be the most effective." Burst chimed into the conversation. "Severe burn wounds never fade. Cuts, even the deepest ones, have a chance to heal if properly treated."

Bust didn't like the way the direction of the conversation was going. He liked even less the suggestions of Azure. That crazed demon was not stable, and Burst suspected it would be only a matter of time before he jeopardized their mission.

With a slight sigh, Burst thought back to the mental image of the girl. A young girl, put through so much trauma because of what she was... When he first joined this group, Burst didn't understand why his brother had fought so hard to unite Human and Mythos, when it was obvious that humans didn't deserve to be placed along in the same respect as them. But after seeing the kindness and loyalty shown by Justin... and the insanity of Azure... Burst understood.

What someone's species was, be it human or otherwise, didn't matter. Burst would fight to stop the violence and insanity of both parties.

Azure sighed, "yeah, great idea, let's give him something to boast about, or did you forget we're supposedly savage beasts? he could quite simply go around and say how he survived against a group of Mythos, weaving lies like you wouldn't believe, these days people find it easy to ignore what's important, speaking of which, I thought we were supposed to be getting ready for an invasion? and now here we are dealing with a crime that happens every day."

Azure frowned, the host was making a comeback but there was still time. "what you want is a mental scar, like the one the girl now has but worse, far worse, something no one can ignore, or justify, if you send me I'll have that done, and no one here will be involved, I can easily erase his knowledge of my being there but there are always chances that certain memories can't be removed." he looked down at his arm, he was all too aware of that.

"How about a physical AND mental scar?" Justin suggested. "Azure, you put 'em in an asylum for life, and Wes and Burst can figure something out that shows everyone who sees it that we meant to just scar the kids and not kill 'em. Best victories are gotten without killing anyone, but it's a bit fuzzy on wounding."

"Good plan, Justin." Wes said, somewhat softly. He still wasn't quite sure about letting Azure loose upon them. But the combination seemed about what they wanted. The two teens would be both a demonstration of what happens to those who are full of hate, and they would also be haunted by their own thoughts for many years to come.

"Don't worry yourself, Azure." He added, "Any marking they get will be nothing to be proud of."

Eryn strongly disagreed with the plan, but knew it would be pointless to argue. She thought they deserved to die in a horrible, painful manner. They scarred the poor pup and did things to her that she would never forget.

She breathed in and sighed, the days events finally catching up with her. She hadn't eaten or slept in a long time and her entire body was sore.

"Well, let's just get to them as soon as possible. For all we know they could be repeating what they did to the girl on someone else."

Anthony looked thoughtful as he considered his options ahead of him. They had all brought valid options to the floor, death, maiming, psychological horror, what to do with them? He agreed with the majority that death was too easy for them, but he didn't want to destroy them to the point that they would never be able to repent for their actions.

He stood tall as he made his decision, "We will not be killing them, we will leave them a marker, a tribute to who they were and we will hope they learn from that, this isn't just about destroying another life, not about an eye for an eye, its about sending a message that Mythos aren't just only villains, but instead it comes down to what the individual is, not his race, not his beliefs, but rather what his soul reflects. Well will see if these boys have the power to change their fate."

The group piled into the usual vans and began to drive through the streets of the city. It was still dawn and not many cars were on the streets so the trip was relatively short, only taking an hour to cross the city into the human districts. Soon they were upon the orphanage and Anthony saw the children's spirits through the walls of the orphanage; he felt innocence, corruption, lies, deceit all in one place, he felt the evils that all creatures had and the innocence of young ones at the same time; this wasn't a healthy place to grow up; hate bred from here and Anthony didn't like it.

The group walked through the courtyard of the large orphanage, the curious faces of children and teens peered through the grimy windows of the building. Anthony opened the door, surprised that it was simply unlocked; this was not a very secured place. The Satori had implanted the images and names of the boys that had done the act and set about locating them. It didn't take long, the other children were quick to sell out their housemates, and apparently these boys were constant terrors to the other children. Anthony took the two boys, their feeble attempts to struggle against Anthony's iron grip, a futile endeavour.

Soon Anthony had the two boys in the courtyard and their actions had seemed to draw a crowd of children. Anthony took out a dagger and the boys paled at the thought of what was about to happen to them, "For your crimes," Anthony began, "You shall not simply die like many would think you deserve; instead you are going to live with the label you have created for yourself; you will have others judge you before they know you, much as some humans judge our kind; this is your fate now."

Anthony took the dagger and Burst heated it with a blast of fire until the blade glowed cherry red with the intense heat placed upon it. Then Anthony took one of the boys and slowly took the blade to his skin. The boys screams were shrill and piercing and the smell of burning flesh filled the air as the words 'Rapist' and 'Monster' were carved on the boy's forehead, the fire of Burst would ensure that the scar would never fade.

Once the first boy was finished, Anthony prepared to carve the second boy. However once he started to carve, he noticed the wounds glowed a red light themselves. This wasn't the way things happened. The boy, with an astounding burst of strength, broke free of Anthony's grip; Anthony's hand went to his sword and the crowd and Anthony's group watched in horror as a pair of clawed hands sprouted from the boys mouth, tearing it at the seams and slowly the skin of the boy gave way to a parasitic looking demon that discarded the corpse of its host as it stretched its arms, legs and tattered wings; more of the children clutched at their throats as more demons wrenched themselves from the tiny bodies, "Anthony," the first one said, "Let this be the day you failed at your duties to protect Earth, we have found a way onto your plane; the hatred of humans and Mythos have brought us here, and we shall not rest until Earth has been taken for Lucifer."

The Demon gave a shrill call and the demons attacked the group, their movements quick and deadly.

"Oh fu-" Justin stopped in time to duck under a demon that tried to tackle him. He had been on the edge of the group, so the airborne demon didn't hit anyone else in the team. Justin quickly reached back for his pistol, wondering how much good a hollow-point bullet would be against a creature from hell.

Eryn jumped back as the demon attacked her, its long, sharp claws narrowly missing her abdomen. She landed on the ground, her eyes already starting to glow crimson red. Despite the seriousness of the situation, Eryn couldn't help but feel a bit giddy. It had been a long time since she fought someone that could actually fight back.

Within seconds she was fully transformed, aggressively baring her fangs, ready to attack the demon.

Wes stood and watched with cold interest as Anthony carved the brand into the first boy's face. The rest of the children seemed to back away and keep a circle clear around not only Anthony, but all of the adults that were among them suddenly. In the back of his mind, he wondered how much good they would be doing for unity if they were making children afraid of him.

No. They will learn not to fear us, they will fear the consequences of doing evil. he thought to himself confidently.

But his thoughts were interrupted as Anthony was shoved back and the second boy stood up. In a horrifying display, claws burst from his mouth and tore him open. A demon stepped out, and spoke to them all, then a series of screams tore the air as more of the children were mangled and replaced with demons.

Wes shouted and stumbled forward as an imp latched onto his back. The tiny beast snarled and dug it's claws into his flesh. Get it off. His shout turned into a guttural roar as his body shifted and reformed into that of a grizzly. He shook his bulky form, but the imp held on. So Wes resorted to rolling onto his back and crushing it.

The imp squealed a haunting noise, then seemed to disappear. Wes rolled back onto his feet and roared again, scaring away any stunned children that had stayed in place during the terrible spectacle. With a gruff snort he looked over the scene as well as he could, locating the scent of his teammates where his beady eyes couldn't help him.

Burst spread his wings wide, and took flight, hoping to aide his comrades with a little aerial cover. Unfortunately, two of the demons also had wings, their twisted and batlike forms keeping up with Burst's speed in the air.

"You may be able to fly like I can..." Burst shouted to them, evading their slashes at him with their wicked claws. "But you cannot match my strength! I shall crush you like the vermin you are!"

Burst opened fire on them, sending a hail of bullets in their direction, ducking and rolling as they moved to dodge the bullets with difficulty. He moved in close and took a deep breath, releasing a gout of flame onto the wings of one of the demons. As the creature screeched in pain, Burst grabbed its horns and began a dive-bomb descent towards the ground, hurling the creature against the paved black-top of the courtyard below.

The Demon hit with a satisfying crunch, and a sickening splat as his bones were crushed and organs ruptured. Burst ascended again, having lost sight of the other aerial demon... which he quickly found again. The creature bit down hard on him, grabbing hold of his tail and imparting a crushing force with its hooked maw.

He bellowed in pain as the beast dug into his tail, penetrating past the scales and into his flesh, beginning to tear at his hindquarters with its claws. Burts made a hasty act, and with a swipe of his blade... A searing pain, a sudden flood of endorphins, and the smell of metal. Burst's tail was now little more than a stump, with the demon falling to the ground and flapping its wings to remain airborne. Burst moved quickly, his acceleration increased by his reduced weight as he cleaved the Demon in half, splitting the beast down the front. He did not halt his attack there, as he unleashed another blast of flame from his gullet, roasting the hellspawn as it fell, like its brother, with a splat and a crunch.

Burst moved quickly, gaining altitude rapidly and heating the blade of his sword with a shot of flame. He pressed it against the stump of the wound, cauterizing it shut and sending his body into searing pain. He grimaced through it, and saw the flesh seared shut, the blood vessels closed.

He was unable to fly any longer... and landed rather ungracefully on the roof of the orphanage, praying that his team was able to manage the rest without him.

Back on his feet, Justin began to raise his pistol as the demon came back for another charge. The demon tackled him before he could line up a shot, but he pulled the trigger anyways. He curled into a ball as the two flew through the air, slamming his feet into the demon's chest when he hit the ground. He tried to kick the demon off, but it was too strong for him to barely keep back. Justin brought the gun up to aim, but the demon quickly pinned his arm to the ground.

"Pathetic human," it began, using its right arm to stab at his chest. Justin quickly grabbed it with his free arm, crying out in pain when it barely stopped at his sternum. "Your kind could never defeat even our influence without the help of your God." Justin gritted his teeth as he watched the demon's blood drip into his cuts and felt the bone slowly collapsing his lungs. "You dare to think you can physically defeat me?" Thinking quickly, Justin spun the pistol around to put his thumb on the trigger and fired, sending a bullet into the demon's side.

"No harm in trying."

Eryn and the demon circled around one another, growling and snarling. She jumped at the demon, swiping downward with her front paw, trying to cut its face. The demon easily avoided the attack and moved around her, taking a hold of the fur on her back and swinging her across the room. Before she could even lift herself off of the ground the demon was in front of her, grinning wickedly. It raised its hand upward and quickly brought it down, cutting her above the left eye.

"You're too slow, Lycanthrope. You should fight harder considering that there are only a handful of you left."

The demon's words affected her, but she didn't show it. She took the small opening and quickly pinned the demon to the ground, but it managed to twist itself out of her hold. They wrestled until she finally flipped it onto its back, exposing its stomach. She growled once more before swiping her claws against the soft flesh of the demons belly, spilling its innards across the floor.

Anthony slashed at one demon felling the wind expel as it turned to ash, he then flipped a charging one over his back, slicing it in half before it hit the ground. As he brought himself up back from the blow, a quicker demon slashed at his chest, leaving a clear furrow in it.

Anthony looked at the chaos around him; children screaming, crying as people they had known their entire life lay scattered in ribbons across the orphanage. It was horrible to see; his team fought valiantly, but blood was being spilt, they were fighting but were they winning? It was tough to say as demon turned to ash and human and Mythos blood was soaked into the ground. Then there was the question of how; how did they finally break through, Lucifer might have, but even something like a lesser demon? This was absurd.

His questions would soon be answered though as he saw in the foray of the fight, a man walking through the blood and dust of battle. The caretaker...no, what used to be the caretaker, Anthony could see the red lust of death in his eye. A black smoke consumed the man and when he emerged, it could be seen clear as day that Lucifer was amongst them all once again. He smiled showing his sharpened teeth, "Anthony," he said as time appeared to stand still around him.

"Lucifer," Anthony spat, catching the demon that had slashed him and breaking its neck in one clean motion, "I thought that you would have fled to your region of Hell when the Mother was found to still exist and your previous plans failed to kill me."

"Anthony, Anthony, simply a setback; we are never without a plan and your humans, those you seek to protect are never above manipulation; even now, as we finally reveal ourselves to you, we have already set plans into motion that you can't even anticipate , hate, the driving force of your civil war is what brought us here and what allowed us to control those who had the power to stop this; now it is too late, you shall fall and when you do, your plane of reality shall too. "In short, " he said stopping in front of Anthony, "Eden and Earth are mine now."

Lucifer's plans indeed were far reaching and the consequences would be severe and could mean the destruction of Eden very soon. His pawns, the United Nations all sat in conference, "We have confirmation that Lucifer has indeed surfaced, the French ambassador was right; the Mythos has called in the big guns; we need to act now! What's our Status on Hoover?"

It looks like she's still at Eden, this is our chance, we can deal the blow now, crush them, end this threat, but we need to act now."

"Agreed, it is the time to strike while the primary forces are out of the base, they'll be some resistance, but this is the best time, lest we miss this window. What are our predictions for lost troops?"

"They calling for roughly 50-60 lost men, can we spare that?"

Of course, approve the Order, operation Eden can begin now," as the final words were spoken the flickering holograms vanished as the U.N secured its name in history to come, as the men who tried to destroy a deity.

"Earth cannot be yours Lucifer," Anthony said drawing his sword and watching as an orange cascading flame cast itself around the blade, "The people of this world will never bow to you, Lord of hatred and violence."

Lucifer laughed and raised his own blade, "Don't you see though Anthony, they already do; this war, this is what allowed me and now my followers to pass through the planes through our own Edens, did you really think this would end easily when hatred and violence surround us so readily, that the Mythos and the humans would never stay at peace, nay this was always going to happen and that is why you will fail," a black flame cast itself around Lucifer's blade and he leapt at Anthony who barely parried the strike, sparks and fire flying in all directions as the two duelled.

The demons were growing fewer in number, but the few remaining were more than just lesser demons; these were greater demons, beings that thrived on fear, anger and anguish and there was much to go around in this battle. The stood there, flame snorting from their inflamed flesh and they formed a circle around Anthony and Lucifer; there was only one way out to do battle and flush the demons out; the team was in a race against time at this point, blood, steel and claw would show itself again.

As his demon assailant turned its attention to its master, Justin took his right foot off the demon's chest and swept it up, striking the demon's jaw. Stunned, the demon loosened its grip on his pistol hand enough for him to get free.

"God I hope this works," he gasped, shoving the gun under the demon's chin as he realized one of them would die in a few seconds. Closing his eyes, he pulled the trigger and turned his head to the right. Feeling the demon go limp, he pushed it off to his right and opened his eyes as a large drop of its blood fell on his left cheek. Justin laid there, taking deep breaths as he observed the demon with a hole in its head. As he slowly got up, he wiped the blood off with his jacket sleeve before cringing at the pain in his chest. Feeling his two extra magazines with his left hand, he twisted his head around the battlefield, hoping to find another small demon to take out.

As the Angel fought the Deity, things began to slide into plan; troops were ordered into the city, propaganda was beginning to be dispersed amongst the people. This was about a quiet takeover of the Mythos sector, an easier path to Eden. Soon they would begin the assault and the Tree would be theirs; unlimited wisdom and power for the most powerful people on the Earth. They would be Gods amongst men. After that, the Mythos threat would cease to exist; then it would be time to look to the other planes. Just like all men to find themselves in power, they soon crave more; they would be like Lucifer, who corrupted them as part of his own plan. The threads of what remained in Order, were coming undone. Chaos was beginning to emerge.

Anthony clashed his blade against Lucifer's sparks and fire flying through the air around them, Lucifer was still as strong as ever, but Anthony had improved himself as well, making them close to even in that regard. Anthony was still curious as to why he hadn't used his powers. They weren't as powerful as they would be in his own realm, but because of hatred around the world, he should have been able to use something. It was confusing and unnerving, but Anthony was forced to stop dwelling on that, with a slash that just barely missed his mid section. He slashed back gritting his teeth with the powerful strike, "You are nothing but a snake, you shall not have this plane, it is not yours to take, it is the Mothers to give to her children."

"As yes, the Mother's philosophy, sickening isn't it, the idea of free will; look at my realm, its based off of hatred, greed jealousy and yet when it is time to raise my troops they fall into line, it is the same with Heaven's troops, why is it only Earth, the one place with free will, the only place that has ever fought against each other, its deity and effectively destroyed its own natural race? Face it Anthony, free will equals nothing but destruction for those involved, I'm just trying to help out the world."

"Deceiver," Anthony spat, "Free will may divide but you and I both know that humanity and Mythos are the most powerful beings because they think for themselves, how else would have humans evolved to better kill yours and mine own kind, and this is without, claw, tooth or unnatural means. They have done it with thought and that is why you will lose," Anthony's comments got through to the deity and he was able to slice a long stripe across Lucifer's chest, "Flee snake, back into Hell where you belong."

The timing was almost impeccable, this had truly been planned for ages, as the troops and tanks moved into Rome, their targets marked and ready to neutralize, they rolled into the district where the violence was taking place and they raised their weapons to the Mythos, "Put your hands up or we will terminate you, this is by Order #11233 of the UN, aka the Eden act."

Lucifer laughed as to the others he still looked like the frightened orphanage operator, "Please save me soldiers, they came in without warning and are killing children, they're monsters, put them down," he even added the quavering voice to add to the effect, "You lose Anthony," he said quietly as Anthony raised his hands, indicating the others to do the same, "You and Earth shall be mine soon."

Gasping as the adrenaline left his system, Justin fell down to a kneeling stance. His left hand shot up to grab his chest, the pain no longer dulled, while his right hand was only separate from the ground by the pistol it still held. Releasing his grip, Justin raised his right hand, which was slowly followed by his left. Blood leaked out of the wound, but he felt a burning sensation in his chest and on his cheek where the demon's blood had dripped.

"M-medic..." Justin begged, not knowing the full effect of mixing demon and human blood, "s-soon...please..."

Burst had finally recovered from his exhausting wound, the pain subsiding for now as his body reacted to dim the loss of a good portion of his tail. He looked off the roof, watching the battle between the angel, Anthony, and the dark lord of Hell, Lucifer.

Just when it seemed that Anthony was going to gain the upper-hand, a contingent of UN troops arrived, pointing their weapons at the Mythos as Lucifer feigned fear and innocence. Burst was out of sight of the soldiers, and he still had his gunblade. He was in a position to take out a few of the UN troops, two or three... maybe four if he was lucky. He couldn't take them all out, but he could perhaps distract them and provide a momentary diversion for Anthony and the others to act or escape.

"For you, Squall." Burst muttered softly, pulling the bladed rifle to his eye, and looking down the sights. With a series of shots ringing out across the courtyard, Burst managed to shoot one UN soldier in the arm, causing him to drop his rifle, as well as two others in the shoulder, and one in the knee. As he expected, they returned fire at him, and he hid behind the roof of the building, praying to the Mother that it worked... and that he wouldn't die.
