In a Fallout kind of apocalypse I'd take my backpack, lighter, flashlight and trench coat.
After that I would go to the kitchen and get food, medical supplies and a knife. Then I would go out and start scavenging.
But if The Event happens, the best thing to do is to remain indoors.

Bow and Arrow - by far the most lethal of the various legal ranged weapons in my room.
Leatherman - Knife and key tools.
Pro Boots - As important as any weapon, good footwear.
Camping Gear - Far better shot at survival out in the Highlands than in an urban centre.

Edit - As a 5th, if I had time, I might grab my Sony Reader. Gigabytes of books would help with the sanity thing.
