I hate most sports games, but (if we're including wrestling) I loved WWF No Mercy on the N64 and the baseball minigame in Wario World 4.

I really don't like most shooters (I find them boring and shallow, generally,) but I really enjoyed Conflict: Desert Storm for the PS2.
Probably just because of the co-op, though.
It was like MST3K, with all of the snarking going on.
This is exactly why I buy bad games intentionally from time to time, provided they have co-op. It's great fun to make fun of the accursed things.

This concept was experimentally applied to Eternal Sonata. Mistake.

F-Zero X and GX were among some of the only racing games I've thoroughly enjoyed, though I wouldn't go so far as to say I hate the genre.

It wasn't bad, per se.
In case you hadn't noticed, though, I tend to talk a lot. No exceptions.
I have noticed. You respond to everything.

Anyhows, I wasn't as much saying that Conflict: Desert Storm was a bad game, but that the co-op shenanigans often inspire me to buy poorly made games for mockery.

I am also a big racing game hater. Especially because I still don't see the appeal of a game that revolves entirely around driving a car and getting a better time.
But that being said, I absolutely loved Diddy Kong Racing. That game was awesome, and it had two of my favorite characters in it (Diddy and Conker).

Honestly, I hate survival horror games with a passion, as I suck so epically at them, but the original Resident Evil made me laugh so much that I greatly enjoyed it.

This week's discussion topic is: Name a game you've loved despite it belonging to a genre you hate. For instance, did you love Cho Aniki even though you generally don't like shooters?
For me, my perfect game and one of the best games I've ever played was Auto Assault. Given that I've tried everything from Guild Wars to World of Warcraft to EVE Online, I thought that MMORPG's were my bane and the sunlight to my vampire (provided, of course, that my vampire is not of the Twilight mythos). However, Auto Assault, which came about in around 2005, was undoubtedly the golden fleece of the genre.

First of all, it had a captivating storyline. Even though it was a generic apocalyptic setting, and some elements were even blatantly plagiarized (for example, a rogue computer-controlled army led by an entity known as TemperNet), it was a whole bunch of fun. Vehicular-based combat, with multiple fully-modifiable chassis to choose from for each of the four unique classes. It was like a futuristic pimp my ride, except without the annoying parts. And was fun; I was hooked from the first second I created my character. Nowhere did I have to do the spreadsheets that are required to play WoW or EVE competently; you could just gear up, head out, and have tons of fun.

I was happy to pay the $15 a month to play this great game. Unfortunately, after a while, NCSoft decided it wasn't making enough of a profit, so they axed it rather abruptly. Since they didn't release the source code, nobody can set up a private server, dooming this game to the grave forever. I'll still remember it as the game that elevated MMORPGs above all else for a good half-year of my life.

I'm a very cosmopolitan gamer and dislike few genres. I guess sports and survival horror are the only ones I don't much care for. But I loved Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, BioShock was pretty good too.

Well, not everything...
I only respond to some of my quotes now!

I figured, but I wanted to clarify nonetheless.
That's true...you've taken to ignoring my nonsense.
*sad face*
On topic: I usually hate both JRPGs and turn-based strategy games, but I enjoyed the Fire emblem games. I think it was the feeling of power-leveling some of the characters, and then waltzing them into any situation, knowing that almost nothing could kill them. That was great.

I hate sport games but so far I have no exceptions to that rule. Other than that I have a beloved game in every genre I can think of.

My vote goes to Condemned 1&2. I'm usually quite the scaredy-cat when it comes to games like that, but for some reason I mustered up the 'nads to take on those games. I have no idea what made me do it, but I was enthralled by the adventure and actually getting scared while playing. Good stuff...I probably won't ever play another horror game for a good while, but those were fun while they lasted.

I'm trying not to hit 10k in the next month, is all.
Ohhhh...okay. So it's not completely personal :p
Oh, and I also enjoyed the first couple of NBA Street titles for their completely preposterous action.
