And just what is wrong with anime soundtracks? I could see your argument if you were referring to typical j-pop, as in that case, 'typical' means 'horrible engrish.' However, lots of songs from animes are just as filled with emotion and good singing as American songs, because ethnicity doesn't really matter when it comes to skilled vocal work. Take the band Oomph! (Yes, I know it's a stupid name. Just bear with me.) or the song Baba Yetu from Civilization IV. That's German and
Swahili respectively, yet I don't see people hating very much on those.
Anyway, Japanese songs sound distinctly more poetic than almost any other country when translated. They don't need to use the childish way of rhyming every two sentences, because the language does that well enough on its own. Instead, they sound like what songs really are: poems with instruments and rhythm. Rhyming shouldn't be required.
