I officially want that as a poster. Also, I sort of wonder what the #1's for.

Also, to add to the discussion, I'll have to go with RE4, at least in the village. It's so bleak and gray in the best possible way. It's that sort of creepiness that feels like walking down a foggy street you're not quite familiar with.

The Mario games. Who knows what political message is being expressed with all the turtle squashing and mushroom eating.

A little indie game called The Path, extremely creative story which delves into the fairy tale of little red riding hood in an extraordinary dark way and it has little or no gameplay what-so-ever.
Most gamers probably wouldn't even call it a game but it's just fantastic and very creepy.
Yeah, I was going to say that as well, The Path was so great. Plus, it inspired Shamus to write an epic poem [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/comics/stolen-pixels/6402-Stolen-Pixels-117-The-Path-Will-Take-Her-to-The-End], which is cool in itself.

The path, the game has no objective and it's main point isnt to be... fun, it's to be engaging and.. lets face it, pretentious.

YOu may all attack me for this but I have the mighty shield of Fanboy-ism! Mass Effect. The story, the directing for the cutscenes, the music all add up to give it a marvellous atmosphere. Its a work of art.

The Dragon quest series. Along with Audiosurf. It'll give you a fuckin eyestrain on lightshow with no lights.

If you exclude War himself from that statement I may be talked around to agreeing with you. Dude is a Beefstick that got covered in glue and rolled through a car parts store.

OT:

For a visually stunning world I'm actually going to suggest an MMO and say Aion.

I'm also gonna say Flower. Come on people, that game screams "Look at me, I'm arty!" for crying out loud.

Saboteur.

What, I can't be the only one who thought the black and white with hints of red and blue was pure genius?

Halo
- Lead to Red vs. Blue, and with Halo 3's ability to take films, take images and customize levels... you get the point.

Psychonauts unique asthetic and imaginative premise, Shadow of the Colossus handling of the story, Viewtiful Joe presentation and unique imagination behind it, Okami...i mean, just look at five seconds of it on youtube and tell me it's not art, Bioshock one of the most mentally invasive experiences i've ever played,
