I haven't really had a crush for some time. What baffles me however is the concept of having a crush. What differentiates having a crush and being in love with someone?
You aren't the only one who can't see a difference - most teenagers commonly confuse one for the other.

I'd look at a crush as a fleeting, inquisitive interest in someone, as opposed to seeing them as your sole route to happiness and long-term fulfillment.

I'm not really a teenager anymore, being 21, but I guess I've sort of skipped much of that phase in my life.

I understand that it's subjective, but I was sort of hoping for a definition or an opinion discerning or comparing the two.
My personal separation of the two would be that a crush is usually an attraction to someone when you don't really know a lot about the person. What you do know about them, you do like, but it's not driving you crazy that you aren't with them. It's just a casual attraction. And usually I would say it's not only based on looks; a crush implies that you're interested in dating someone and you like their personality as well.

Falling in love is usually something that happens after you get to know the person better, and probably after you are already in or already have been in a relationship with them. It's usually WAAAY more intense than a crush.
I suppose that sort of makes sense regarding my own perspective. I should probably say that I had my heart broken along the lines between a crush and falling in love right as I started getting to know a girl I liked.

This is why I try to forget her. Her name is Iris btw.

Ask me a few weeks ago, and I would've said Amber. She was the only crush I've had at college so far, and the most likely to date, because everyone else I had ever gotten interested in was already in their own relationship. Took a nasty bump a little after Valentines Day when I heard her talking about a serious crush SHE had on one of our college's star basketball players. Still went ahead and tried to ask her out the week before Spring Break, and I got a "friend zone" response. Since then, it's been really awkward to pass by each other or sit together with other friends because she lives just a few doors down in our dorm, so it happens a lot.

Julie. Sexy, bisexual, and dating my (male) friend... until she cheated on him with my girlfriend at the time. Yeah.
I had to read that three times till I got it. I blame my hair color.
That is actually kind of funny, in a way. Then again, it isn't.

I like a lot of girls, but they just seem to not go beyond flirting. All kinds of talk, but never any action. *sigh*

First Patrizia.
Then Ida.

They were both work.

Quick, someone who knows Swedish explain the joke.

Edit: Oh, and Sam as well. Also, shorten Patrizia to Pat. I have a thing for chicks with monosyllabic monikers.

Duncan

From Dragon Age: Origins.

I'm serious. I know he's not real, and I have a boyfriend with whom I am madly in love and totally happy, but you're never immune to crushes, and damn, do I wish I could have Duncan. He's just that awesome. But, fictional. And -oh, wait, that's a spoiler?

*sigh*

Amber.

Married with children though. That kinda slows down that prospect. Eh...no harm done.

Christina, we went to high school together and we've always been great friends I ended up never being able to tell her and now that we're in Uni in different states I've been trying to push myself forward to try and "get over it" as weird as that sounds I guess. I always feel like a bumbling idiot when I think about it -.- *sigh*

well, i have a steady thing and he is the love of my life, but i also have a tiny, secret crush in the depths of my heart. i don't want to say his name, though, because he's an actual escapist, so i'm just going to post two of his initials: RB

Jenny.
It's failed though, I had a chance and it's gone.
But hey, it's for the best. She doesn't care for Love. Just adoration.

Christine, though we've grown so close I'm not sure I can call it a crush anymore.

She's kind of like a sister I want to have sex with. In a good way.

Mine is named Kevin. He said he liked me, I said I liked him, and we were fooling around for a bit in secret. I wasn't good enough in that respect, I guess, so he dumped me so that he could flirt with a blue-haired girl.

And yet I still like him.

Sucks.
That does suck. That's why I say never trust people with blue hair, though I normally mean senior citizens, it can be reappropriated.

Mine was a girl named Brie, "like the cheese" was her line in introductions. She was fun, nice, really really cute, but my life was just tricky at that moment and I had my head up my ass, before I knew it we were both moving in different directions.

Oddly enough same story, but different time frame, could be applied to a girl named Kim too.
