pho·bia definition
Function: n
: an exaggerated and often disabling fear usually inexplicable to the subject and having sometimes a logical but usually an illogical or symbolic object, class of objects, or situation compare
I think some people need to recheck their understanding of the word 'phobia'.

This isn't just a fear, or a worry, or something that freaks you out; it's a deep paralyzing terror that you can't escape. Also, it's usually about stuff you shouldn't be afraid of in the first place.

Fear of heights, for example, everyone has that. Just cause you don't like tightrope-walking doesn't mean you have a phobia.

OT: Don't have any. Or rather, I haven't discovered mine yet.

Though the thought of being stranded in the middle of the ocean really terrifies me.

I have a very, very mild acrophobia. It is hard for me to describe how mild or when it would take effect but it is not that bad I can still go on rollercoaster and not scream but remain emotionless which is more than can be said for most people.

I just realised that I may have a mild form of agoraphobia. I always get really nervous and paranoid when I go outside. So yeah.

Also flying insects.

EDIT: Also, the ocean. I hate the sea, I'm terrified of open water. Deep water scares me, big fish scare me.

Alarms. Yes, Alarms. I'm as afraid of alarms as I am the stuff they are supposed to alarm me about (fire, burglars, carbon monoxide etc)

Spiders, even non-poisonous ones. My reaction is irrational, since I freak out if they come in contact with my skin.

I wouldn't go so for to call it a phobia, but that's about the only thing.

Spiders, nothing shocking really. I'm honestly terrified of house spiders
Also daddy long legs (proper name - Crane Flies) just because they look like flying spiders. I'm probably more scared of them than I am of spiders
Also recently discovered I get pretty freaked out by pregnant women, they just make me shudder
My gf has a phobia of bananas lol. Well actually she just doesn't like them but she does really reeeally hates them

Failure.

I like winning.

There is, as far as I'm aware, nothing else that gets my fear reactions in such a tizzy (with the possible exception of the ED "Kittens" page).

Phobophobia: A fear of the character Phobos from Quake III Arena. Uh, sorry, a fear of phobias.

On a serious note - and no, I don't fear phobias - I can't particularly think of anything I'd have an active fear of, though there are various things I'm just generally cautious of. Nothing I can list off the top of my head though. I really should try to put an effort in, but... eh.

And that spoilered image above is awesome.

So everyone has got a phobia or two hanging around in the old ceiling space that we call the mind.

I've personally got one or two depending on how you class them, the fear of heights and the fear of the depths (deep water frightened the crap out of me), I'm pretty sure they could be linked.

I'm also scared to death of snakes, but I don't consider that a phobia since my reaction is kill them, so it's not irrational, rather perfectly rational.

what are yours?
If you can't control yourself, it's still a phobia. That is, is it possible for you to see a snake and not try to kill it?

As for me, I don't really have any phobias. I have fears, like losing all my friends or not accomplishing my goals, but nothing that makes me freak out or always react a certain way.

I can only think of bees. I just run out of my room and close the door if theres a bee in there and wont come back til an hour at least.

I still remember when I was 5 how I accidentally stepped over a bees nest (It was kinda hidden under something), and then they all started chasing me :( And one of them stabbed me on the ass.

Well yes, but I want to kill it, all snakes need to die, yes I know they serve a purpose in the environment, but they are horrible shits of things, and cheaters to boot, I have no problems with animals that are faster or stronger then me (example a Kangaroo could kill me dead, not a afraid of them, just a healthy respect) being able to kill me, but snakes and to a lesser degree spiders are just damn dirty cheats!

Without that damn venom they wouldn't be able to hurt anything larger then a mouse, but given I come from Australia where almost every damn snake could kill me a dozen times over I just hate and loath the cheating bastards, oh I'm still afraid of them, but the pure hate I have them for outshines it, everytime I think about the snakes I've killed or seen killed I smile.

One of the best memories I have of my childhood is of my uncle taking myself and a friend hiking around an old limestone quarry, on the way out I almost stepped on a huge brown snake that was sunning itself on the path, my uncle stepped forward and did something I'll never forget to my dying day, he reached down, grabbed the snake by it's tail, whirled it around his head, and cracked it like a whip, shattering every bone in it's body, the entire thing took maybe a second at most.

He was getting on at the time, mid 40s, and to my knowledge that was the last time he ever did it, but he used to do it at shows and fairs before I was born, always a crowd pleaser, so not only did my uncle prove he was seriously freaking awesome, that was the day that even though snakes are dirty cheaters they still can't beat humanity, he didn't use any tools or weapons, he used his natural human skill to beat the damn cheating bastard.

So yes, snakes suck and they should all damn die.

Sorry ranting here... I really hate snakes.

I'm a bit of a germaphobe (which does not mean I'm afraid of Germans, just so you know... although their chancellor is a bit creepy).

Im agoraphobic, never had a problem with ferries or heights as I dont leave my house, for many reasons, most of them ridiculous. Ive been sitting in this chair every day for the last 8 years and I'm utterly bored. Terrified of wasps and bees too due to a lovely childhood experience.
