5. A View To A Kill - rather weak as a James Bond film, but I love me some Christopher Walken and Grace Jones combo. It always gets old soon, but some bits are just awesome.
4. Goldfinger - Froebe's Goldfinger is awesome, Pussy Galore (come on!), Aston Martin DB5 - it's just an amazing package. It should probably rate higher, but it doesn't.
3. Live and Let Die - methinks the strangest of the bunch, but some unique and daring stunt work going on here. Also, it's pretty much got it all, including a bucket or two full of giggles.
2. Goldeneye - this one came absolutely out of left field for me. I expected to absolutely hate it, and I quite liked it. No super love, but I liked Judi Dench as M, I didn't hate Brosnan Bond and it was all a rather good package. I absolutely hate the BMW product placement, though. It's absolutely inane and distracting. Also, IBM's OS/2 for the lulz! The game was also pretty awesome and great multiplayer fun - without that game, I would be bound to rate the film lower... pretty certain about that. Oh, and there's Sean Bean. Sean Bean, 'nuff said.
1. From Russia with Love. No contest. It's the first time (I believe) they got the formula spot-on right, pretty much from scratch and only thanks to all the great people involved.
Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace are rather inacceptable submissions, ranking lower in my personal opinion than lazy Lazenby's metrogay frilly poof Bond. Both of these films struck me as being a bit too gloomy, revisionist and deconstructive to ever be part of the Bond universe.
I hear Skyfall tries its best to restore proper Bondness for Daniel Craig, which seems to be a really good idea to me.
