Hmm, for me ... no particular order as well ...
1) Warriors Orochi 3 (PS3)
I know this is one of those games people would complain - "it's doing the same thing again and again" ... the real incentive is to see the storyline and the character interaction that really steals the show for the Warriors Orochi series (part 1 especially) - basically due to the fact that they have mixed 2 famous dynasties of Chinese and Japanese warlords and warriors into 1 universe and see you can see how different or alike they really are when waging war against a great foe.
It's hard to get non-DW/SW fans to buy into this game, so it's kinda shunned by most players i know of.
2) Toro! Let's party / Toro to Morimori (PS3)
If you love Sony, chances are you would know who Toro is! The mascot's first and i think only English game - it's actually quite a decent game to whip out to play during a party! The amount of minigames is quite a bit and the difficulty to get the trophies are just plain time consuming and difficult too! My niece managed to beat the main storyline and we still whip it out once in awhile to get the minigame related trophies - if it's available for the cheap, it could be an enjoyable purchase.
Again, people would shun this because it's too cute and too silly as well. Well, remember that it's a mascot cat after all, so don't expect it to be serious anyway.
3) Samurai Warriors Chronicles (3DS)
Yes, another Warriors-related game ... this time for the 3DS. I think it's a pretty decent gem - considering they never released an English version of SW3 on Xbox360 and PS3; it was only available on Wii - the Japanese Wii system got the Xtreme Legends expansion, while the full experience was made only for Japan via the PS3 (which i have) and PSP ... so if you're a fan who only wants to deal with English language, the only way is via the 3DS!
The nice part is that they actually allow you to create a custom general for the game, which you will be using most of the time through the missions and again, it's your interaction with the SW warlords and warriors that make the game interesting. Unlike the SW series on the consoles - the storyline is centered on your created general than the different factions or in-game general's story outlines.
Not to mention the streetpass battles are also a good way to interact with a community of fellow hand-held gamers. I got to know a nice bunch of 3DS owners through our streetpass battles using this game. We still do meet up once in awhile as a community to exchange game data with each other, so this game's streetpass data gets passed around quite a bit!
4) Lego Rockband (Xbox360)
Because it's cute and it limits your playlist of RB DLCs to family friendly tracks doesn't make this less of a Rock Band game! It's actually quite interesting and funny as well, plenty of brick related humour and Lego puns to go around to keep everyone entertained! Lego fans would enjoy the amount of customization of the different characters, as well as the familiar Legoland universe that is all cramped into one fun music game!
The only downer for me is the limiting of songs - the game has pre-determined which ones are friendly for family and which are not ... so not being able to perform some of my downloaded songs with Lego people is my only minor complaint about the game!
5) Dynasty Warriors 7 (PS3)
Okay, i know you all must be saying - this guy is just going too far with pushing out DW/SW/WO games ... but hear me out, i would stand for DW7 more than the older series - simply because it became more serious in tone compared to the older series - the story lines are now driven closer to the actual RoTK storyline, so you would expect the tone to be less comical than previous games. And the fact that now it even expands to the story of the Jin kingdom coming into play against the 3 weakened kingdoms - it's interesting how KOEI has decided to go on the more serious tone for the series' 10th anniversary!
Because of this, i am expecting the next one - DW8 which is coming in Feb 2013 in Japan first, to remain as hard, serious and possibly more accurate than before!
If it is very shunned by players, then they would certainly have missed out the huge change in the story telling and the overall tone of the game; which is something i've looked forward to experiencing for awhile.
