My dog is named Gaea because I love Greek mythology, and I'd been taking Latin for a year at that point. Also her name was Tyra originally so It was and easy switch.

We had a cat a good while back (dead by now), we named him Parasito. Now there's yet another cat around that looks quite a lot like him and we call him The Sequel.

Both massively dumb animals by cat standards.

My dad's cat was called Trouble.
If I ever get a new cat I shall name it Ilia.
Hug for anyone who gets the reference.

I named my black Labrador Mickey although it wasn't after mickey mouse. Named him after me cause Mickey is short for Michael which is similar to my first name. Kind of like how you would name your kid similar to yourself, cause hes pretty much my giant hairy baby.

Our cat is called Zoot after the saxaphone player in the Muppets. Our Daughter's name is Scout after Jean Louise Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird.

My family has had a bunch of pets. The weirdest names so far have been a dog named Stirfry, because my Dad's sense of humor tends towards the ridiculous, and a cat named Dij, because apparently one year old Me decided that was her name.
We've also had Romulus and Remus, Snugs, and Little Kitten.
Yep, Little Kitten. Totally my parent's fault, because though I freely admit to using Puppy, Kitty, Buddy, Hon, and all those other generic names when talking to my pets, I never mean for them to be the pet's actual name.
Sadly, five year old me was unaware that this fact needed to be clarified before they got the silly notion that I would actually name a cat Little Kitten.

I do really want to name a pet a very generic person name, though. I have no idea why, but I am endlessly amused by the idea of a dog named Bob, or Paul.

I have a pet Florida kingsnake; I named him Mr. T. Why? Because it's Mr. T, that's why! It's too bad, though: I'll have to give him away to a good home when I head to college in the fall. :(

I named my dog Totodile

I also named my last dog Pep, after Putt-Putt's car.

EDIT: Don't judge me, I've had these dogs since I was a little kid.

I'm going to get a husky when I get my own house and name it Apollo in honor of Claudio's dog in The Amory Wars.
