They've found the Flood. No one is safe.

Quickly! We must nuke all the rovers and never go back to Mars again!

No, but in reality, my guess is some kind of carbon-based compound that could indicate life was indeed on Mars at some point.

What if they find all the things mentioned in this thread? That Curiosity is way better equipped than I thought it was.

It's some interesting geographic thing they didn't expect on mars, like some new minerals.
No, we have enough minerals. I surely hope they found some gas, though, preferably vespene.

They found a book, and after much translation, they finally figure out the title is "To Serve Man." Too bad they don't discover the real consequences much later of such a book.

OK, a wild prediction, if NASA decides to relocate to Mars and changes its name to Adeptus Mechanicus, I guess we should all start praying to the Emperor, since they've probably found the Void Dragon.
There will be a new board game commissioned in the Void Dragon's honour: Settlers of C'Tan.
[facepalm]

Lieutenant, warm up the Twin-Linked Pun-isher Cannon!

*ahem*

You're Kraken jokes like a Warboss. We all Eldar sides laughing.

Umm.....my Nob goes to 11?

OT: I *so* hope it's life. A single nonterrestrial bacterium or mold spore, dead and frozen though it may be, would upturn all notions of our place in the universe.

I expect they've found ice crystals, or complex pre-biological chemicals, amino acids or somesuch. "Earthshaking" was almost certainly an overstatement outside the narrow field of interest they're operating in.

They've probably discovered something that would only excite a scientist, like some unexpected mineral presence or something.

I always thought it endlessly funny that now it's us sending the laser-armed robots to Mars.

My guess as to what they found?

Uh... a few footprints and a Russian flag.

Water? They'll set up a base there, and it will be awesome. Of course, until the water filter breaks and they all get infected and turned into crazy water-zombie things.

What they have most likely found is life. Bacterial life, which they have been predicting for a few years now. They have already witnessed bacterial life forms survive meteor impacts. Its not exactly a far stretch. As well since we've discovered not all life on earth is carbon based it definitely opens up alot of other avenues.

I'm going to say some sort of organic molecule. A complex hydrocarbon. That would be pretty huge.
