The escapist, while based in North America, has members from all over the world.

One of the things I like about this site is this 'melting pot' of nationalities that we have. Obviously that's not something that is unique to the escapist, the internet is the ideal conduit for international interaction.

I love that we poke fun at each other, I love that some escapists personify their country and I love how many different perspectives their are on a myriad of topics by just being raised in different parts of the world, and I've learned interesting things because of it.

I love that we all share a common interest.

We may be oceans apart, but we're part of the great nation of escapia.

*sips tea*

Quite.

Share your thoughts.

*shotguns beer* 'MERICA, FUCK YEAH!

*cough*

I just love that our common interest gives us a reason to speak to people across the world. It's one thing to be pretty sure that folks across the pond are the same kind of human as I am, and it's another to meet someone who became one of my most trusted friends.

I think with how big the internet is becoming, it's going to be harder and harder to get people to go to war.

I mean, before the information age, it was very easy to dehumanise other countries, but now we talk to each other all the time.

That may be naivete on my part, but a man can dream.

My country is great as I can use a few different names

British
Irish
Northern Irish

I always say I'm Irish while on holidays, people generally like the Irish more than they do the english.
You should learn to embrace the hate.

It's what made us strong :D

Woo! Freedom! Irn Bru! Kill the English! (No offence Daystar =P)

Anyway, I much prefer talking to people here, people who I share a common interest with and have knowledge with that interest as well, than try and drum up a conversation with "Bill" down the road who I share no sort of interest with at all.

It would probably be an insult if you actually managed to pull it off at least once :D

Australia. We don't have to shout that we're the best because we just know it to be true.

Mostly, anyway.

So you don't deny your miscreant way?

I'm watching you, Australia. Stay out of trouble.

Well, as an American, I am legally required to post this video (it's in the Constitution somewhere, my hands are tied)

It is always interesting to see where each person is from. I like to click on links of people (to determine if I need to say he/she/whatev when replying to them) and I like the little flag showing where there from.

For example: @miracleofsound

is Irish. Mind = Blown for me (no clue why, it just happened...for some reason I just assumed the guy was an American)

Football, Meat Pies, Kangaroos, and a subsidiary of General Motors.

I don't think I personify Australia all that much, but I do personify mid thirties married men with children. From now on I'll try to use the phrase "No Wuckers" much more often on the Escapist.

Just because we gamers talk to each other, doesn't mean the general public does. I feel it'll be a while before the majority of citizens regularly communicate with citizens of other countries to the point that wars are impossible. We're off to a start, but I wouldn't expect it anytime soon.
