Couldn't find any topics about this, so I figured I'd make one myself. Here's the debut trailer:

I'm cautiously optimistic, simply because I trust Naughty Dog to make good games. I'm confused as hell, considering all of Naughty Dog's past work, but...this still certainly looks interesting to me. We'll see.

Also, did he call the girl who looks EXACTLY like Ellen Page "Ellie"?

Because if so...Really? I mean, I think the whole "Little Girl and Grown Man In Zombie-Land" is cool and all, but...Does she have to Ellen Page?

Another Zombie game?
The whole zombie craze is just getting old, I'm not that psyched, sorry.

Considering the Uncharted games had zombies, blue super men, and fire spirits, this doesn't seem like that much of a departure.

Personally, I really wish we'd stop with zombies. They're just getting old. Hopefully these ones will be fun to fight, but I doubt it. Still, it's Naughty Dog, and I haven't hated one of their games yet, so I guess we'll see.

Looks interesting actually. Sure its another zombie style game but they seem to be mixing things up enough to make it interesting. Look forward to seeing more of it.

So that's why they couldn't make Jak 4.

Anyway, I was quite surprised to see Naughty Dog doing a survival Horror game. It looks quite interesting.

Let's hope it will be good. Ah, who am I kidding, of course it will.

I think it looks pretty interesting, and those things didn't look completely like Zombies.
But, yeah it's pretty zombie-like, if it's not just regular ol' zombies.

Oh, and one other thing:
Doesn't the guy look totally like the default male Hawke in DA2?

I'm already beginning the wild, highly unlikely, cross series speculation as we speak.

I'll stay this like the other topic, this game doesn't look that great. It seem like just a Resident Evil 5 clone. Its probably going to be a third person view, your teammate is going to be AI (And bad one at that) so you need a partner to have fun. Its not going to be survival horror at all and just be a action game with scare jump scenes.

Though I guess I should be this picky, but damn it I'm sick of this game already. Just reading some of the IGN forums post about this game is already praising it as a great game thats going to be so fucking awesome.

*Sigh* I hate it when things get overhype. Just like Brink, and so many other games that look great the first time through.

If anyone can do what we've been wanting, it's Naughty Dog.

Too bad I don't have a fucking PS3.

Looks like they are going with a different take on it as compared to most zombie games. Not dealing with the initial outbreak, but years down the line by the looks of the plants growing through the streets. Too bad it is only for PS3, this would have probably been one I picked up.

To be fair, Uncharted 1 turned survival horror-ish in the Nazi bunker with the Descendents.

If this game can recapture that atmosphere, I'll be happy.

This is a trailer, and you're saying that it doesn't look that great. I would understand the thought if that if this had gameplay or anything that really gives information about the game. But this is just a cinematic trailer which means fuck all.

OT: Can't really say anything about it since we know nothing of it. But if the trailer is anything to judge from(which it isn't) then this could be something new to the zombie formula, video game wise. We'll just have to wait and see and hope for the best.

I was cautiously interested until I saw them running.

[edit]

Had time to sleep now, ok they're not zombies so running is a-ok and it looks interesting.

Actually, if I read right, they're mutants not Zombies...not much of a difference but just for clarification. Although this has a large "I Am Legend" feeling to it with the overgrown city filled with mutated human beings. I sort of wished it was somewhere else instead of New York because I'm tired of games centering in NYC; although Naughty Dog probably thought that having a game in an exotic location would be too Uncharted like.

Plus the girl looks like Ellen Page who is ungodly cute...so yeah, it has my attention.

EDIT: Why has no game ever been in Antartica? I mean there probably has been games in there but it's an area that is a no-man's land. Have a "The Thing" scenario or something similar; I would pay to see that.

Exactly. All the speculation over this thing, and it turns out to be a zombie game set in NYC. I'm sure it'll be well-written and look pretty and have good acting, but I'm just tired of both of these concepts (ruined New York, and zombies).

I agree and disagree with a lot of the replies. On one hand, I do think the whole "zombie craze" is played out, and has been for quite a while. But on the other hand, not all zombie games are same. Left 4 Dead plays a LOT differently then say, Dead Rising, and this seems to be a pretty interesting take on the genre.

I just think it's important to keep in mind that zombies are not necessarily synonymous with a total lack of originality.

Yeah, that too. That thing had some kind of giant growth on it's head. I tried to pause it to get a better look, but it's always pretty blurry. Here's hoping that it's more then just pointless, Resident Evil-style "disease blobs".[footnote]FULL DISCLOSURE: Never actually played a Resident Evil game, absolutely talking out of my ass.[/footnote]

Well to be fair, I'm just seeing a lot of post on IGN (big surprise) about how this game is going to be the best game of all time. Without even gameplay, or anything about the story (Beside the whole world gone to hell).

Plus with all the zombies games that came out these years, they all try to pull the "emotional" trailer. I'm just sort of tired of the zombie games since they all feel the same now a days.

For 2 generations of consoles Naughty Dog hasn't made what I'd call a bad game. I wasn't Jak's biggest fan, but they were solid games that earned their place among the action platformer set of the time. Uncharted speaks for itself.

On top of that, I love zombie apocalypse games and if ND is making it, then that's doubly exciting. Also, because I prefer the 360 controller, my PS3 doesn't get enough play anyway. So another title that gives me reason to use the Playstation for something other than Netflix streaming is a great thing.
