Just found out about this yesterday. Im shocked the media is paying zero attention to this. I can only find info about this on the internet at third party news sites. The only main stream media who have covered this is Stephen colbert, John stewart and Rachel Maddow.

Things that bother me. Obama signing this in general. The fact that he signed it on new years eve night. Multiple sources from both sides condemning the new law, and all saying that it allows indefinite detainment without due process. Its so bad I dont even feel right posting this. Freedom of speech, but not freedom from repercussions of what you say...is that freedom at all?

Anon is calling for people to do stuff on youtube, Occupy movements are being squelched and the conspiracy people are in full swing. It just feels like all you can do is sit back and watch. Keep doing what you can to progress yourself individually and hope that the games politicians are playing wont affect you personally.

That's what it sounds like to me at least. The arrogance, good heavens... It's one thing to dick over your own citizens, but to think that you can easily do so with people from other countries is just... I don't even know what to call it.
Think that's bad. Several eastern-European nations have had similar laws for decades.
Double-standards laws that allow for detention for some arbitrary reason, but doesn't apply to their own citizens.

For example, in the 1970s Morocco had a law stating that their citizens could legally purchase and consume marijuana, but any foreigner even caught with it in their possession would be imprisoned for 5-7 years.

But the catch is how they made a sick little "business" out of this.
They would send dealers to the ports to sell marijuana to foreigners (especially US Navy servicemen on leave...as the story was related to me from such) with Moroccan law enforcement just sitting there waiting for a foreigner to commit to a purchase, then they would arrest the foreigner and effectively legally "ransom" them back to their own country through "diplomatic" channels.

Of course, I'm not condoning the bullshit the US is pulling now; I'd say it's highly hypocritical given what we allegedly preach. But I'm just saying that other countries pull this shit too.
