need a good zombie game.

Ironically, the corperate mentality being what it is, I actually expect there to be a glut of Zombie games once it's determined to be a safer genere, which will of course happen to coincide with the fad being over.

Oh and one other game, there is a brawler for the Dreamcast called "Zombie Revenge" which is set in the "House Of The Dead" universe if I remember. While not open world by any means it does involve a mechanic where you can make some simple choices that influance which bosses you wind up fighting.

it doesent have to be big budget, my favorate horror game is a indie. umm but i only have a mac and ps3/psp so yeah... i love house of the dead but again, how can i get one for those consoles? plus a small tv kills the fun...
I'm a big fan of the Zombie genre, but not of how it is being carried by the industry.
Right now zombie games don't even seem to WANT to be zombie games. With a couple notable exceptions that have already been brought up in this thread, zombies as a whole have been demoted to mini-game or novelty-mode in games, generally. I used to think at least Resident Evil would always be reliable, but despite it's string of fun titles, even RE doesn't seem to think being a zombie is fashionable anymore!
I concede that a zombie doesn't have to be a shambling, rotting corpse to qualify, but the further we get from at least RESEMBLING that makes me feel less and less like I'm playing a zombie game.
Let's not forget, this is a staple of the survival horror genre - my personal favorite - not anymore; It's all shooter fodder now. It's a matter of opinion whether that's good or not.
Where are the games that make you feel as though society is crumbling, your options for survival are constantly and increasingly growing dim?...Anyone could be the enemy - in fact, it could be that the living ones are more dangerous than the undead ones. Do you stay on the move? Do you barricade yourself in some place alone? Do you find survivors? Do you attempt to discover what happened to your world to make things wind up like this?
THAT is survival horror. I really don't feel as though simply trying not to be killed qualifies as survival. I don't know about you, but even the games that do qualify (e.g., L4D, DR) aren't particularly frightening. They may attempt to tackle the survival part, but the horror? I'm sorry, but I have a BIG GUN, a LOT of ammo and I know how to use it. This is FUN not SCARY.
Once again, my version of a scary game might not be yours, but I know I'm not the only one that feels this way. What happened to the zombie genre? Why hasn't my "perfect" zombie game been made yet? Or yours!?
TL;DR: I answered the OP by posing the exact same question...am I relevant or what? I guess the answer is that I have no answer because that game just hasn't been made yet!

i have a idea for one... i'm just trying to find a company that will take the chance on it... the kind of game that the stock pile of ammo DOSENT MEAN SHIT!!! that even if you killed one with every bullet there would always be more... the kind that always ends with your charicters sitting in a basment as the horde pounds on the door... debating over who gets the last bullet.Zeekar said:
It sounds like you want more of an old school FPS, the kinds with characters that wear racecars for shoes, use the most impratical weapons, huge bosses, and dumb as dornail enemies. Look up Painkiller if you want a taste of that.zealk said:
So you like my suggestion? Hate it? Remember, FPS's weren't all about "die in three shots depending on lag and if the enemy is using a noobtube or not" but more about just pure chaotic FUN.
