Ok, so the way Christmas works in my family is relatively simple; I ask for one game from my grandpa, and I'll get it, doesn't matter what it is. I've come up with a list of games I don't have that I want, but I'm not sure which one is the best. So I'm turning my decision over to you, my fellow Escapists: What game out of the following should I get?

Background: I have a Wii, Xbox 360, and a very terrible computer (It can barely run Medieval II total war, just to give you an idea of how bad it is. Lists are in absolutely no order

Xbox 360:
Lost Odyssey
Dragon Age: Origins
Brutal Legend
Borderlands
Mass Effect
Red Factions Guerilla
Bionic Commando
Fable 2
Devil May Cry 4
Far Cry 2
The Godfather II
Too Human
Kameo: Elements of Power
Overlord II
Supreme Commander
Beatles Rock Band
Halo 3: ODST
Assassin's Creed II
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance II
Batman Arkham Asylum

Wii:
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Super Paper Mario
Punch Out!!
The Conduit
Wario Land: Shake It
Wario Ware: Smooth Moves
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Trauma Center: New Blood
Battalion Wars II
De Blob
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

Computer:
Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3
Civilization IV: Colonization
Europa Universallis III
Galactic Civilizations 2: Twilight of the Arnor
Empire: Total War
Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War II

Thanks in advance!

Make up your own mind. Because you've provided absolutely way to friggin little information for us to make a judgement on what you like.

Do you have friends? In person or on Live?

Assassins Creed 2. Imagine all the fun you can have stabbing random civilians for staring at the street that is covered with random civilians you killed for staring at the street that is covered with random civilians you killed for staring at the street that is covered...

Oh yeah, background information probably would be helpful...

I'm terrible at shooters; love them, but I'm terrible. So if it's too difficult, I'll never win.

I love RPGs, but I don't have much free time, so it can't take an impossibly long time for the game to get good.

I have friends and Xbox live, but my live is screwy (works about 50% of the time) and I'm more likely to have friends over than play online anyway.

I prefer my 360 to my other systems, but if a game's really that good, I don't care what system it's on.

You've said nothing about your play style. Do you like RPG's? RTS's? FPS's? Without knowing this, it's worse than taking a shot in the dark

EDIT: Borderlands. It's got a much more streamlined skillpoint system then any of the bigger RPG's out there, and the weapon stats are pretty easy to eyeball in a few seconds. So you'll keep a faster pace in the game

Yeah, I can shorten this at least by half. New list:

Xbox 360:
Dragon Age: Origins
Brutal Legend
Borderlands
Mass Effect
Red Factions Guerilla
Assassin's Creed II
Batman Arkham Asylum

Wii:
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
The Conduit
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Battalion Wars II
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

Computer:
Empire: Total War
Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War II

Is that short enough, or do I need to shorten it more?

I'm pretty good. Yourself?

I haven't played most of those games, but I like Mass Effect. So I'll say Mass Effect. If you don't like it, well, I don't particularly care.

The vote so far:

Mass Effect-2
Borderlands-1
Assassin's Creed II-1

Btw, if there are any games on my shortened list that you think are complete crap and should be removed, that's just as helpful.

Then it looks like you want borderlands. It has a solid fun curve that starts out good, and gets better and better slowly as you put more hours into it. It can be played 2 player split screen or you can lan a whole room full of xbox's together. It works over live a bit better than split screen but still good. Its a shooter so you'll love it, but it doesn't take much shooter skill to make it fun. Its more about the numbers. Its a quasi RPG with customizable characters and a bazillion guns.

And you might want to figure out your internet problem, its probably a nat type problem... thats the most common.

I would have to go with Dragon Age. Borderlands is good but the enemies don't scale and I ended up fighting guys 10 levels below me on my second playthrough (and the second half of my first). It was boring after that.

For the record I haven't played AC2 yet. So put me down as for DA:O above Borderlands.

Mass Effect-2
Borderlands-2
Dragon Age: Origins-1
Assassin's Creed II-1

And I'll check out the nat. Thanks for the advice, grimspice

why do you have Dragon Age under the 360? It needs to be on your PC, trust me the game play is best on the PC, you have much more control and you'll get Baldur's Gate* flash backs, it's awesome

*if you have not played Baldur's Gate what the hell are you doing on this forum? Go out and get it. Now.

I have it under the 360 because I don't actually have a gaming computer. It's just a regular PC that can barely play things like Rome: Total War. I'm working on getting a better PC, but in the meantime, computer games are, unfortunately, pretty useless unless a game is so good that it's worth the frustrating 15 min loading times.

Ok, so maybe my list is still too long. Given the votes that you all have already made, I'll shorten my list to five:

Mass Effect (2 votes so far)
Borderlands (2 votes so far)
Dragon Age: Origins (2 votes so far)
Assassin's Creed II (1 vote so far)
Brutal Legend (no votes, but I've liked the gameplay vids I've seen so far)

Thanks again for the help guys.

Wat?

The enemies scaled to maybe one or two levels below me on my second playthrough. And from what I've heard, the enemies for the first DLC scale as well.
