Scam. If they were going to get you free points, then hey wouldn't need your password. They will hijack your account.
Need help determining if I have been given a scam.

Okay, got all the info I need. I will just put it behind me, maybe he will message me later and say that he was scammed. Though if his account was hijacked maybe not.
I got a message from a friend regarding this, he sent us (Me, and his friends) a message telling us how great this was.
10 seconds later he sent out a message telling us it was a scam.
Trust me, if it looks too good to be true, it is.

The guy that message me, I don't know him that well, just that we played some Halo 3 multiplayer several months ago. I hadn't really talked to him since.
I have a picture of what I found when I used the link, but it doesn't explain enough to me that I can't dismiss it as a scam. It just seems too good to be true.

Ask those questions first. Don't bother thinking about whether or not it's legitimate before then, because the answer to those first two questions will tell you not to bother.
If you're still wondering about it's legitimacy. Look at the freaking URL. Do you think Microsoft would have any trouble hosting this page on www.xbox.com? There is a big and very obvious reason that this is hosted on some bullshit domain.
I'd say this guy already fell for it. Then people just use these accounts, send the message to all the friends of that account, and it keeps spreading. Yeah, it's a scam. It happened on MSN a little while back too. Why would your password be needed to award points, the only people that could do that is microsoft, and they wouldn't need your password.Sonic Doctor said:

I find it interesting how a thread just keeps on going. My last post in this thread, before this one, I said I got that it was a scam and that I am going to ignore it; to me that meant that nobody else was going to comment, because the question had been answered. But now the thread keeps going, and people are repeating what other people have said. (Ooh no! What have I created?! Aaaahh!) I guess people are trying to get their daily post quota met. (Do people have those?)
General rule of thumb is that if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. It looks like a scam to me. I never give passwords out to that kind of thing because it could be a scam.

That is a classic example of a scam. Microsoft would never ask you for your e-mail or password. Microsoft never gives points away for free unless there is some type of contest involved.
