All right, so, I need some new beer I haven't had that is pretty good. Dark/Light, I'll try anything. No need to bother with anything mega-brand as I've had them all (and it wasn't pretty).

Also preferably something that isn't impossible to find in a store of some kind. If I have to go half way across country for it, probably not gonna happen.

What do you escapee's recommend?

Edited for location; I live in southern U.S.

No idea where you live or what's available there... personally I'm a fan of the amber ales offered by Full Sail and McTarnahan's, but those are pretty local... New Belgium's Fat Tire isn't bad, but it really lacks "bite", if you're into strong beer.
...and speaking of strong beer, I highly recommend trying Stone Brewing's Arrogant Bastard. You may or may not like it, but it gives you a definite sense of what "strong beer" actually means. Personally, I love the stuff.

Most beers by Sierra Nevada are good, Rogue makes good beers, most of Sam Adams and Saranac are good. I don't know where you live so I don't know if you can find these in your area.

...I've had so many it's hard to remember the various beers. Ommegang if you have that near you. Oh and Dogfish head, don't know how I could forget them. Basically look for microbrews, they aren't always good but they usually make some good beers, especially compared to the ABMC beers.

I'll second that, can't believe I forgot about Stone, they have some great beers.

Not sure if you can get aussie beers over there, but if you can try and get your hands on a Tooheys Extra Dry. Probably my favourite beer, goes down very smooth.

And a beer everyone can drink that I've seen everywhere I've ever gone, Corona (with a slice of lime of course!)

Guinness! Kilkenny! And if you can get your hands on it, get Dahls Pils from Norway! It's probably not the best beer in the world, but you will not regret trying it.

Try Blue Moon. Its one of my favorite beers, but it gives you a pretty decent hangover. Good stuff =)

Belgian beers are the best beers out there. Not saying that because I'm from Belgium, but because it's fact ^^ There's light beers like Stella and Jupiler. Stronger beers like Duvel or a Trippel. Cherry based beers are also good.

I love beers and have run bars for many years, but it's difficult to give Americans advice on beer, as what they call "beer" is generally just lager. However, for something a little different, try and find some Fruli.. it's very odd.

Some others..

Stout: Has to be Guinness really, the rest just aren't as good

Real Ale: For something a bit different, try some Spitfire... smeels a bit odd due to the sulphur in it. If that doesn't appeal, try some London Pride

Weissbier: Try Erdinger or Hoegarden

Lager: Nastro Assuro Peroni (sp?). Italian lager, tasty and strong

Bitter: For a standard, Greene King IPA is pretty good, although for something stronger and more premium, try a brew from the Wychwood brewery, like Hobgoblin

Mild: Try Banks's Mild. I'm not a huge fan of mild beer, but this is nicely balanced

...And the list goes on I guess. I doubt many of those are available to you thogh, so try and get some Fruli in.

not an aficionado of beer myself, If its not 100 proof or better than whats the point?

However, the only "beer" I ever liked was Hornsby cider red label.(not the yellow label in the img

Along the same vein Strongbow is a solid flavor as well. I was just more accustomed to Hornsbys myself. It was the only "beer" that didnt upset or bloat my stomach and have a nasty aftertaste. All in my opinion.

Yuengling, Blue Moon, Magic Hat, and Stella Artois are a few of my favorites.

EDIT: I've found that most beers are an acquired taste... I used to hate Yuengling but after drinking a few it slowly became my favorite cheap beer. Just remember one thing, the sweeter your alcohol is, the worse your hangover will be.

Not sure about availability in the US, but I'd recommend pretty much anything from the UK "Fullers" brewery. Their London Pride, London Porter, ESB, and 1845 are among my favourites excellent.

Beligian Trappist beer is usually a solid choice as well.

Czhechian (spelling?) beer is good, Swedish beer isn't.
Do you mean Czech (as in Czech Republic)?

My Polish mates introduced me to a Polish beer that I can't for the life of me remember. Damn good stuff though. Just look for something Polish sounding at your bottleshop.
Otherwise, for something cheap and easy (in Oz at least) I am partial to Blue Tongues and Boags. Not sure of their availability in the US, so that may take away their easy status.
