discussing Theorycraft with another WoW play (i dont play it myself anymore). Theorycraft is basically explaining the mathmatics behind WoW so that you can maximize your DPS as much as possible. Then he explained to me how its been mathematically proven that it doesnt matter when you pop bloodlust of a simple tank and spank boss. the result is always the same.

Science is my career now, I'm not in elementary school anymore, I don't have to be ashamed, because I know more than the dumb class bullies.
Jeez.
I'm a nerd, and I'm a writer, not a scientist.

The nerdiest thing we ever talked about was... sigh... we had a discussion about which character in the Extended Universe we were most like.

I was Kyle Katarn.

I had a two hour long, heated discussion with several friends about the proper strategy and equipment necessary to survive a zombie Apocalypse. On the back of a church bus.
i actually had this discussion with my friends dad and the rest of my friends while Night of the Living Dead was on. thinking about it a cemetery is a very safe place. only a few zombies would be there considering that zombies are only the newly dead.

On two separate occasions, I have tried to explain the use of Linux in open source programming to non-computer people and got the blank stare. I felt kind of nerdy, but I hadn't really expected anything else.
When my friend who is a game design major at WPI gave me the same blank look, I felt nerdier than the nerdiest otaku at a cosplay convention.

Also, trying to explain to my coworkers what an otaku was made me feel super nerdy.

I can remember the exact words.

"Honk your car horn if you want, but it will only be legal for the next fifteen minutes."

There's a law in my country where you can sound your car horn in developed areas after eleven pm.

Dammit, I wish I had more nerd friends. Any time I try to bring up a nerdy discussion, no-one is interested.
Why did I have to be the only one without a life?

I once spent two hours with a PUSH designer discussing the pros, cons, design and manufacture of frequency dependant port-orifice damping for an oild damped suspension fork.

I found it really interesting.

I caught myself saying "I solo'd a Blondie once" (in reference to Applebee's Blondie dessert) around people who'd never played an MMO or even gamed regularly. They just stared at me funny. Nobody normal says that they "solo'd" anything.

I corrected my professor in a history seminar about the nature of Palpatine's takeover of the Republic in Star Wars. He was explaining the rise of real totalitarian states and wanted to draw a link to help people get it.

Obviously I got a few weird looks and someone called me a nerd.

Discussing WoW, with a girl i want to hook up with, because she called asking what I was doing.
Here's the clincher: She wasn't turned away by it.
Edit: We talk for about 3 hours... Only 20 minutes were discussing WoW

I may be able to 1up that. My friends and I went to a bar, brought our laptops and used Google Earth to map things out, we divided up responsibilities and had contingency plans. We ended up drawing a crowd of people who wanted in, but we decided to leave them to die.

There was also that time I galloped around my highschool with two halves of a coconut.

I got into a Hulk vs. Superman discussion with a friend once. I still say Hulk takes him down hard.

In a recent discussion about "What would you do with trillions of dollars?" I went off on a 2 hour diatribe about buying controlling interest in Lucas Arts, kicking out George Lucas, declaring the prequels non-canon, and putting together a team of good writers to re-release episodes I II and III. Oh, and stopping all DVD production and sale of the prequels and that new indiana jones trash.
And then you would be my hero.

No one said "nerdy" was a bad thing. I relish my geeky/nerdy-ness. Someone is very sensitive.
