Neverwinter Nights 2 is the most fatally buggy game I've ever played.

Am I the only one that found NWN2's linear story so damn boring I only kept playing cause I could fuck around with the console command?
I'd gladly hear some opinions on why I should continue playing.

Oh and I haven't experienced any bugs yet though...
Which is quite weird as it is a Obsidian game.

Worked fine for me, minus the fact that this mouse doesn't like scrolling up with the scroll wheel.

Never was buggy for me, but I found Neverwinter Nights 2 terribly boring. I stopped playing a couple hours in, because the game wasn't getting any less linear, and the really long unskippable story sequences were bland, and even annoying. It's a game that placed story and characters above gameplay; something a game should never do (I dunno if that's just a feature of D&D games, since this is the only D&D style game I have ever played)
Noooo!!! all RPGs suck the first couple of hours, for instance Planescape torment sucked for like 10 hours, however once you get past that they become some of the greatest games you have ever played.
If it takes 10 hrs for something to get good, then it's a sign that the game isn't good.

Massive letdown. That was eight quid I could have used for.. KOTOR! Or... something obscure and JRPGish. My search for a fun new RPG game goes on.
If you're willing to try JRPGs, I recommend Persona 4. Extra Credits talked about it in their Sexual Diversity episode.
It really is a weird and fun game.

You know, thanks for reminding me... I haven't played through MotB yet, so I need to reinstall that game. Not sure what people are going on about with the buggy crap bit. I've played the game on two computers and 3 operating systems and never had a problem. Maybe if you people voted for Obsidian in March Madness, their games wouldn't hate you so much.

I don't think it was ever the bugs that annoyed me, funnily enough. It was the controls, boy they were awful. However that all said, I did enjoy nwn2 for one reason. The ability to play the campaign with friends in co-op. Made the game so much more fun, and I don't get why more recent rpgs haven't had the same option.

Yes because that's how the world works if it isn't instantly good then it can never be good.
[/sarcasm]

Okay okay let me try to explain why that is:
The reason why rpg's takes a long time to become interesting is because there is a long period where you are learning the world, the characters and the story. Now for instance in a FPS none/barely any of those things exists so it becomes fun very fast however in the long term it slowly becomes more and more boring as you play it since you do basically the same things over and over.

EDIT: Made post less flamy.

Anyway why am I even trying to explain this? I mean a console playing simpleton can't understand the beauty of a wonderful story anyway.
Ok, now you're trying to flame me. I'm a PC gamer, and I know wonderful stories.

HOWEVER

if learning the world, characters and story ISN'T FUN, then the game has FAILED.

10 hrs is a ridiculously long time for me just to learn the game, hell, there are games that only last 10 hours.
