I have ended my game atleast the 3 times now. My pinky finger rests near the power button and if you hit it, it kills your game and takes you to that screen asking if you want to turn the power off or go to the home screen.

I am aware that most people don't hold their 3DS like that but some of you may and have experienced the same problem? Anyone?

Also, what other annoyances do you have with the New 3DS? For me in order of importance:

- The location of the power button
- The glossy, slippery finish. It's harder to hold than my old 3DS XL.
- The location of the stylus. BTW, I think the stylus is shorter now.
- That they still didn't put in a door over the card slot (see Vita to get an idea what I mean). Atleast the card slot isn't in the back anymore, I have accidentally popped the card out too many times losing progress.

Holy crap, your hands are huge.

I rest my hands in a similar location, but I've never had a problem accidentally pressing the off button. Still, I upgraded from a standard-sized 3DS, so I really appreciate having the extra size to hold on to.

I'm loving my new 3DS, only thing I'm really waiting on are new game releases once I'm finished with Majora's Mask.

The power button isn't an issue with me, not sure if it's because I upgraded from a normal sized 3DS or not but I don't think I hold it in a way to press it. I have more of an issue actually pressing it to turn the console off because the way I press the power button presses the right shoulder button too and catapults the apps along the screen :(

Haven't personally noticed the slipperiness of the console, maybe it's because it's newer (?)
The new stylus is shorter (standard sized N3DS compared to standard old 3DS) due to the old one being telescopic.

I personally love my N3DS. Just generally a nice upgrade and little QoL updates. Haven't gotten hold of a game that makes use of the new 2nd shoulder buttons yet though.

Did they change the volume slider at least? I can't count the amount of times I've been using my 3DS XL and the volume has suddenly gone from really quiet to waking up the whole house from the tiniest movement of my hand. It would usually happen when I rest the system in my left hand so that my right can use the touch screen.

I agree that the placement of the stylus is quite counter-intuitive now. You have to take one hand completely off the system and I'm not a fan of that. And the stylus itself is definitely shorter. Neither are huge issues for me, but the changes seem like a step backwards.

To be honest, I've always found the Nintendo DS awkward to hold, especially when it comes to wielding the stylus at the same time. My hands will cramp up if I keep them in the same position on the system for too long, so I'm either shifting my hands around or preferably propping the 3DS up on my legs while lying down, but that's not always practical.

Are there any new ways the New 3DS works with the WiiU? I have the (old?)3DSXL and I love it, but can't justify upgrading just yet.

The only things that bug me is the stylus placement, the glossy back (Ugh, the normal 3DS XL was way better here) and the game card placement. At the very least, a Vita style flap would have been nice so I can rest my pinky finger there like I used to. Oh well, worth the upgrade~ The finger placement and gloss is easy to deal with. That damn stylus placement though...

The volume slider is now opposite the 3d slider so unless you're holding the machine by the top you shouldn't have any issues.

I remember the power button placement being a real problem on the original DS, I really hope that they didn't mess it up again.

Yeah I've done that once...actually it was about 5 seconds ago...when I tried to imitate how you hold a New 3DS to see if it was that big of an issue...and I was half-way through a Hunt in Monster Hunter 4...FU-

I don't like how it's the XL. I want the normal sized version, this one's too big for my tiny baby hands. I also like the smaller screen, since games look better on it since the XL doesn't up-res games, just stretches them over a bigger screen. I also want those faceplates. Also, the fact that you now need to unscrew the back panel when before you could just pop open the slot and change them easily. And I can't do that because one of my screws is fucked up and won't unscrew at all. So that's fun.

OH! Also, the fact that Majora's Mask doesn't come with the Majora's Mask handheld. Even though it comes with it in Europe. The fuck's with that?!

Yeah between that and no charger, we really got short changed this time around and I hope that doesn't become standard.

The only problem I have with the power button is that it's too hard to press, which isn't a problem for me.

This is my first DS since the Lite, so I'm pretty happy it's been placed there. I hated the original 3DS and how they put the start/select buttons in the middle. I also turned off my original DS a few times when the power button was on the face of the machine, so I prefer it to be out of sight.

Also, how did you take that picture? Do you have 3 hands?!

My roommate was telling me about a conversation he had on Reddit about it. I guess the N3DS is the first portable console system to be sold in the US without the charge cable. They said it's been standard practice for a while outside of America and they actually preferred it that way, because they don't want extra chargers. Everyone I've talked to look forward to getting a second charger for their system(s), so the whole concept is just completely alien to us.

I know when I bought a second DSlite, I was happy to have the second charger for portability. I wasn't interested in buying a second charger to take on the go, but I was happy to have it so that if I needed it with me, I wouldn't have to unplug it from the wall. I've found my friends agree.

Why is the power where it is... Why can't it literally be anywhere else. I'm used to playing an advance, so as I think I'm about to press start and save, boom, " do you want to power off?" They said. For fucks sake I've restarted from the same spot in pokemon 3 times. 3 almost 4 hours of gameplay... Gone. TT.TT

Then I rage quit.

I dropped my 3DS. It still works fine...but it knocked something loose and now it rattles whenever I move it. Drives me insane, I'm seriously considering taking it to a repair shop.

It's vexing because I bought Xenoblade Chronicles and I've not really played it much.

The location of the power button is wonky to be sure, and it often takes two presses to get it right, at least for me. The strange c-stick thing also kind of bothers me, mostly because it feels like I'm not moving much of anything when I use it. The fact that its functionality doesn't seem implemented in many games is another tick against it. I'm not sure why everybody's bothered by the stylus placement, though. The way I hold the 3DS, I simply have to slide my middle finger down and grip it with my ring and pinky fingers in order to get it ready. How does everyone else do it?
