While it looks mostly nice, there are two big issues:
1) That does not look like Peter Parker. At all.
2) The POV scene needs to die. It wasn't a good idea in Doom and it certainly isn't here.

Its too early for a Spider-Man reboot and those god awful POV shots in the trailer are only making me not want to see this movie. Plus its another origin story and I'm really not interested in seeing that again. Also the Sam Raimi films weren't bad enough to warrant a reboot this quickly. I'd rather have seen Raimi's Spider-Man 4 that fixed all that he did wrong in 3 than a reboot.
Ya, Tobey actually looked like Spiderman, who is supposed to be a geek. This guy looks like angsty teen #2134. It looks like it will be watchable but I kinda wish that the previous movies had been a bit better rather than a gritty reboot and a damn origin story...

Ehhhhhhhhh...

Garfield doesnt look like Peter Parker, he looks like a stereotypical teen actor from the latest teen drama show or something. I cant picture him as an alienated nerdy kid where as Tobey Macguire filled that role perfectly, its a shame that Tobey Macguire's Spiderman was written to be a complete wimp.

Hmmmm, nah.

If I hadn't liked the previous Spider-Man movies (apart from #3 ofcourse) I might've been interested, but Spider-Man 1 and 2 are too fresh in my memory for me to give this movie a chance.

Raimi's Spider-Man movies had a certain playfulness to them, and it looks like this reboot is playing it on the straight and narrow.

And making a reboot so soon after the well regarded original movies is gonna turn the whole thing into a clusterfuck, I'll tell you that.

Thank you. I was trying to put into words how I felt about it and this nailed it. It's trying to be too much like The Dark Knight that it completely ignored what makes spiderman such a compelling character. That's the biggest issue I had with the earlier movies as well. It didn't feel like spiderman, it felt like "whiny emo kid shooting webbing". The only time it felt like spiderman was when he got the jab in on Jameson in the first movie.

I loved the first and second Spider-Man movies. I pretend like the third never existed.

What I liked about the first two were that Peter Parker was human. You could relate with him. You can clearly trace his growth as a character through actions in the first and second movie, and Tobey Maguire did a notable job portraying Spider-Man as he's intended to be in the comics: a moralizing human pressed into the role of a hero not by society's demand, not by fate, but an obligation to duty. His existence and contemplation give the proof for an other-wise vacuous phrase: "With great power comes great responsibility." He is someone that empathizes with the loss, or potential loss, of ordinary people, and acts to help them because it's the right thing to do. Not for survival's sake, ala X-Men, but merely because it's the right thing to do.

I caught that with the first two films. If this remake can match the consistent idea of what I've read in the comics, and seen by animation or live-action, then I'll definitely be enamored with it.

So far, the only good thing I see is Martin Sheen.

Does this mean the villain won't suck this time? Alfred Molina as Doc Oc is the only good baddie casting I saw during the truncated Raimi trilogy.

Mary Jane = not a redhead? Or is this what's-her-name?

If the trailer tells anything, it's that the casting for Spidey is awful.

And can we please get someone like Williams or Horner or Elfman to do an actually thematic super hero score? We haven't heard one of those since Tim Burton's Batman films.

I don't really like the look of it. I thought the first 2 Spiderman films were Brilliant, we don't need a remake of those, just the third one...

Honestly toby did fine for the role. I don't see why the are even making a reboot if they aren't going to bother to stick more to the comics, its the exact same concept from the last one and I have to say I would have been more dlighted to hear of a spiderman 4.

I'm usually very forgiving with movie adaptations, but i hate HATE HATE(!) this trailer.

It's just not Spiderman to me. It's some weird The Dark Knight Thing. Hell, it could be a slasher movie trailer if you cut the Mirror's Edge Part.

All these Daddy Issues and brooding and angsting and the moody-to-dark lighting (wich will also be great for 3D screenings of the movie) just pissed me off.
Sure, Spiderman/Peter Parker has issues, hell, he get's constantly f**cked by fate. But still, Spiderman, for me, always was optimistic and positive. Peter Parker is troubled, sure, but he overcomes that because he is SPIDERMAN, and also awesome. And he was never about punching villians the hardest, he was about irritating them with quips and lame puns.
He was, in a word, comic-booky.

And not every comic adaption needs to be all gritty and sober.

(P.S. For those who are interested, i only sorta-liked Spiderman 2 and hated the third, but i think despite it's problems and the really lame villian Raimi's Spiderman 1 got it just about right.)
The Dark knight?..you're very forgiving - i got a twilight feeling from this trailer. :/

Also was it really necessary to retell the Origin story once again?

It makes me want a first-person Spiderman game. Like a mix between Mirror's Edge and the Alien from AvP. With epic web-swinging like the Spiderman 2 game.

I think it looks fawking awesome.

It went all Mirror's Edge on me at the end and that really took me by surprise though. Was it just me, or was it nearly shot-from-shot from the opening of the game?

Overall, I think this might be 2012's "Let Me In". You know, the movie everyone said would be shit because it's an "unnecessary remake", but ended up being totally bamf?

Looks like someones been playing Mirror's edge.
I'm not the only one that thought that, I see :p

The movie looks like crap, IMO. WAY to serious for Spiderman.

... Except for Emma Stone.

She never looks like crap.

She's always amazing.

They are rebooting/remake spiderman because so many butthurt fans through constant tantrums about how the movies were not entirely following the comics, granted 3 was complete shit on a stick. Of course comic fanboys will ***** about anything. Hell there rebooting it and no one can be happy it.

Did anyone else notice the web-shooter on his wrist towards the end of the trailer?

This looks promising. Maybe there's going to be some more of that ol' Marvel continuity. Wasn't Spidy an avenger at some point? If nothing else he tried getting into the Fantastic Four. As for Spider-Man on his own...looks good. Can't tell who the bad guy is going to be in this one but isn't the rumor mill pointing to Vulture?

Can't wait for this one at any rate.
