New Harry Potter Trailer: Harry Goes Gears of War

You know if it wasn't based off the book, this would actually look pretty good.

I understand why they are making the movie two parts, but why would you bother doing that with the game. Instead of making the game based off the movie, base it off the book and that way, instead of two 5-6 hour length games, you have one 10-12 hour length game. If you take into account the collection and exploring you can usually do in the Harry Potter games (at least the first couple) than that would make a solid 15 hour game.

Short answer: if they did that, they would sell only half the copies they will sell this way. It's EA, remember.

OT: despite being almost as much a huge Potter fan as Lambi (I'm not about to kiss anyone in here, especially seeing as the majority of you seem to be guys...), I am very afraid of the last (two) movie(s) after the total disappointment that was The Half-Blood Prince. As for the games, I've never even played any one of them, I love the books too much to let them be ruined by those. So, yeah, it looks cool for an action game, but I think I'll pass this one.

Sweet mother of... I agree! That game MUST be made! But will it be like the normal Rainbow Six series (y'know... WITH GUNS?) just placed in Hogwarts, or will it be the gameplay of Rainbow Six with wands and stuff? If the latter would be correct, I want shotgun-like wands! xD

i have hated ever harry potter game to date all that fucking around they make u do at the school just sends my brain to sleep this looks really fun

how ever i agree it will ethier be the biggest thing since slice bread or be the biggest flop and be removed from histroy as soon as people feel they can get away with it


an open world version could be fun to if it was even close to as good as fall out

No no your not. This is probably the only book of the series that would make an AWESOME game anyway since this is when the War comes to a head and the battle is awesome. (The last like 10 Chapters of the book) And its the one where the fateful Line by Mrs. Weasley is spoken "Not my daughter you *****!"

It is also that you can take liberties for them going from Point A to Point B because they say that there are some small battles at some points rather than get into them and then others they actually do. First couple of chapters getting Harry away from his Aunt and Uncles house (only casualty of that one is Hedwig) Then there is the battle when Harry gets captured where Dobby ends up dieing. Then there is the battle that ends it all at the end of the book which will hopefully be one epic battle to behold in a movie or a game.

OT: I don't really care for the books, I mean, their not bad, but I never had high hopes for anything out of the series, but this game looks okay. Nothing new or original, but a neat idea none the less.

The games have always taken plot liberties. This at least looks a helluvallot more fun than the other games.

It was released as the Sorcerer's Stone in America. [small] just thought I'd point that out too[/small]

Also another pretty good game IMO in teh Harry Potter name is the Quiditch World Cup one albeit it was REALLY easy even on the hardest difficulty once you figured out how to play correctly.

Okay I must confess that when I first saw Harry hiding behind a wall GoW style and then pop out and blast a guy I laughed really hard. But to be honest, it doesn't really look that bad since GoW style games are very popular these days with Uncharted 1-2, Mass Effect 1-2, and of course Gears of War 1-2, and those are all fine games, no reason why this one can't be good too.
