The whole multiplayer ME is still a rumor, so it could be ME3. Honestly though, I would love to see a multiplayer style Mass Effect with a single player campaign that focuses on a new character. In all of the stuff that has been released to flesh out Mass Effects story, we only get the perspectives of a few individuals (Specifically Commander Shepard, Anderson, and Liara briefly). Seeing the Mass Effect universe from a different perspective would be great and fresh, which is saying a lot when you consider how many franchises seem stuck to the same characters when there's so much in their respective worlds.

For those that know the ME universe Ashley Williams Grandfather fought a guerilla campaign to defend a colony from a Turian invasion during the first contact war. A game set during that would be eighteen kinds of awesome.
would only be worthwhile if you have th option of sacrificing Grandpappy Williams so Ashley will never be born :p
Hell yeah the universe is better without her in it!

Well Mass Effect has the rich history for it. Problem is humans weren't in that many battles. Aside from the fights with the Turians early on, and maybe a free mission where the military fights off Cerberus groups or maybe terrorists I can't think of anything.

Now the other aliens have great backround, battling between Krogan tribes, Asari biotic commandos fighting elite geth troops, quarians pitted against c sex on the citadel. The options are endless.

I hope it's noot like CoD. that wouldn't facilitate Biotics at all. i hope they keep the gunplay like the real games instead and balance it well, maybe with ample destructibility and good physics. oh and i hope that it's NOT about the first contact war because of 2 reasons: 1) Humanities Biotic tech was still primitive at that time according to ME lore. and 2) i wanna play as an Hanar Adept......nuff'said.

I hope it is not like CoD...

If they kept it third person with custom armor and weapons and everything Mass Effect, but made combat CoD-like, it would KICK ASS!

Great so now we get to deal with human Noob-tuber's and Turian quickscoping campers.......

......Yeah that sounds like so much fun.

Behold gentlemen.....The Raping of Mass effect will soon begin.
Yay, another person with no understanding of quickscoping is. It is a rushing style, it cannot have camping.

OT: Seems like a decent cash in attempt, I'ma guess it'll sell like hotcakes.
Yay

Another person who seems to think I care what Quick scoping does/does not actually entail.

Jesus, there hasn't even been any information yet. Just an announcement. Plus, it's Bioware, surely they've earned the benefit of the doubt?
I have yet to see a single multiplayer game that hasn't gone straight down the toilet thanks to dicks who decide to use cheap, pathetic tactics to win a game and call anyone who plays the game correctly a ******.

This would be cool, however, I still would rather have this be Mass Effect 3.
I would rather them make a crap game that ISN'T Mass Effect 3. If that is Mass Effect 3 then it looks like they are Haloing it up and who in fucks name wants that? We need fewer brainless gun-man games.
Oh uh..Yeah I didn't mean it looks like Mass Effect 3. It looks like what has been said.
What I'm saying is I rather have Mass Effect 3 then a shooter prequel. After ME3? Sure I'll go for it, but I don't think a prequel is necessary until we've wrapped up the important story.

Oh, my bad. I see what you were saying.

A CoD-like Mass Effect game, with online shooter components?
This... could be interesting. And successful.
If they do it right.
Plus, first contact war... Turians... Humans... sci-fi...
*Possibly drools a little*
Biotics would be a complete ***** online.
Not really. You just have to handle them differently.

On the whole, biotics offer the following:
The ability to increase your personal protection
The ability to throw your enemy off balance
The ability to harm your enemy
The ability to weaken your enemies defenses

These basic things do not need to express themselves in the same way as in the Mass Effect games. Throwing your enemy off balance might simply involve a short duration stun that imparts reduced movement speed (such as the stun grenade in Modern Warfare). Personal protection could simply be a small HP buffer of sorts or a reduction in some kinds of incomming damage.

I dont know.
My first thought was "This sounds NICE."
Can you imagine? It'll be pretty awesome if they kept biotics and stuff.
But then my next thought was "Theyre going to ruin mass effect arent they"

I'm not sure I follow a lot of the negative comments here...

Firstly - It would at least be interesting to see what Bioware can do in a multiplayer version of Mass Effect. Considering the way the First Contact War is touched upon a few times in the games, it was clearly a major event in the backstory, and a game based around it would be fun. I've personally longed for a multiplayer version of Mass Effect since the first game.

Socendly - So what if you disliked CoD's multiplayer? It was and still is hugely successful with a thriving fanbase, and it makes perfect business sense to go the same route. It may also get more 'twitchy fingered FPS players' into a more story-based franchise via a medium they relate better with, and I'm sure a lot of the members of this forum would be happy to see the more artistic side of gaming become a larger market as a result.

Hell, I'm one of those types who loves both series of games.

Yay! Getting angry over the rumour of a possibility that they might make a game that may be similar to a game you dislike is fun!

A shooter game that I might actually be interested in because of its setting that isn't in the Half-Life universe?

I never thought I'd see the day... O_O

If it truly is based around the Turian war then the game is pretty much throwing out the series' only outstanding feature by using such a limited scope. Also I have a feeling that biotics will be hard to balance in pvp.

On the other hand a foray into multiplayer will at least give them the discipline to not make sub-Gears of War level combat mechanics. I'm getting tired of the conversation simulators but I don't think Bioware has demonstrated the skill to make a game that stands up on its combat mechanics.
