Something that really bothered me from ME2 is that nobody besides Garrus and Grunt wore armor.
They actually released armour for Miranda as DLC... and since even a massive fanboy like me thought it was a waste of time and money to download it, I doubt anybody's actually seen it in-game.

But yeah, point taken - especially since in the first game, everybody wore armour. But the bit that grated with me the most was that the non-armour wearers in ME2 could somehow get away with just wearing a little face mask in environments where the armoured characters were wearing full helmets...
thats exactly what bothered me about some characters not wearing armor.

It looks just like generic blue N7 armor from ME2 (medium armor from ME1). I am genuinely surprised this screenshot has generated such a long discussion already.

Her hair is down and that isn't realistic for a marine to wear. I hate it when Bioware does stuff that isn't realistic in their game about giant sentient robot spaceships and aliens that all speak english.

Ashley was once a marine, but is now a Spectre, and therefore responsible for Bond-ing it up at some times, and since apparently no one ever changes clothes in ME, it's entirely possible that that's just there, along with the new hairstyle, to make her seem less intimidating in conversation-y circumstances. /bullshitjustification

Wouldn't having tight fitting armor be ideal for male and female future soldiers? Sucks to use the bathroom but no need for necessary bulk when you have kinetic shielding. Happy to have Kaiden actually, simply more useful. In the first game she was correct to point out her uselessness as purely commando character. Not that I ever used Kaiden or Ashley though.

Actually, I might have a theory for the "aliens all speak english".

Under one conversation with Thane, he calls femshep "Siha". Femshep asks if her translator just glitched, so what I think is that all humans are wearing translators to transform Alien language into English.

That's all I've got.
Yep, automated machine translation has always been part of the canon: http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Translator
