So, what do we all think of the new medal of honor game coming up soon in the 2000 of 10?

Is it just another CoD clone or will it be a complete hit everywhere?

My thoughts: How the Hell have they managed to rip off almost every aspect of MW2? How do they expect that they can outsell MW2?

It does look rather similar to the Modern Warfare games... I shan't use the word 'clone', as every company is within their own rights to make a game in any time period or conflict (except for created ones like the Haloverse).
But it does have interesting looking parts on it...

From the trailer, it looks pretty damn good... but very similar to something we've all seen before.
Whilst I used to love some all the older games, CoD has over taken it now. I can't see this game coming close to any of the previous CoD games (that's right, I'm including WaW in that too...)

Looks incredibly generic, and will probably take itself super serious.

Yeeeeeah, not gonna play this.

It definitely looks good, but I think it's difficult for war games not to copy each other.

I'll probably be keeping an eye on this game.

The same way the first CoD managed to beat the old MoH's... even though people at the time said it was a rip off.

Wait till it comes out 'till you judge it for being set in the same time period.

Dude, the time period was little to do with my opinion, let me just run you through some of the stuff from the trailer:

A squad of men arrive at a door, and they surround it before one of them kicks it in. There is a hostage in a room, and you run in and have to kill the defender before he kills you or the hostage. A flying mission (wasn't in CoD, but I'm trying to be fair here). You shooting a man in a wartorn, sandy area. You shooting people through thermal sights on an (or at least very similar view and stuff to an) AC-130 gunship. You driving on a quadbike with a ridiculously similar view to the snowmobile. You running through an area using night vision goggles. A body being pushed into a pit. Then it's pretty much the end and I'm tired of writing.

I don't mind a game copying another one, but if that's apparently it's only selling point, then I'm worried.

I'm disappointed. I didn't start playing FPS games until about 4 years ago, so I'm not done with WW2 shooters yet. I'm more sick of "modern" shooters. Now where do I go for my WW2 fix?

I really liked Medal of Honor: European Assault, so I'll reserve judgement here. Aside from the 'Adrenaline!' feature, which was basically a godmode button.
Then again, I haven't played a Call of Duty game. We'll see.

Things like the AC-130, and the night vision goggles are aspects present in plenty of modern themed games, and it would be ridiculous to leave them out, just because "Call of Duty did it". I know there's similarities, but they coincidental and can't be helped most of the time. I think the differences will far outweigh them, the main thing being that the gameplay and feel of it will most likely be very different.

by having dedicated servers? (will they? Will it be for PC at all? I hope so) The fact that its a MW2 clone will not stop people from buying it, just like console-like matchmaking didnt kill MW2

its all about the hyping and the publicity.

Well we're just going to have to agree to disagree here, as from the (very small amount) of actual shooting seen in the trailer, the mechanics look very similar.

And the body fallng into the pit, the quadbike and the extreme similarity to the door kicking scene suggest to me that they're doing it to get the MW2 demographic, and that everything else that looks exactly the same to MW2 suddenly seems less coincidental.

However, I am a very sceptical and cynical person, so I'm willing to accept I may be completely wrong.

Well, not completely wrong, but still.

Mmmmk, I'm not gonna say that pc gaming is unimportant, but most people who bought MW2 bought it for consoles, and even pc players not buying it didn't stop it from getting a billion dollars, so that won't make it an MW2 beater in itself.

EDIT: oops, double post.
