Wow, I can't believe nobody's posted "Stay out of the Basement" yet.

But seriously, don't go in there.

If you want a high post count, joining a forum RP can give it a boost.

Also, think before you post, you may regret what you say later. And don't attack people personally, lest the wrath of the mods descend upon you like a thousand screaming ravens.

Also, Captcha, why are you asking me to finish a Robert Frost poem? Captcha has been getting more and more odd but this is just ridiculous. I mean, seriously captcha, the f@#k?

Now, one of the first things you'll want to do is make a thread about your feelings on Feminism, but your not ready for that yet. Instead, see about making a thread about something else say, your feelings on the ending of Mass Effect 3 for instance, and see where things go from there.

yeah, that's a pretty good idea.

[sub]Why is it no one ever promotes the RP forum?[/sub]

Umm okay firstly don't rush to make a thread about [current trending topic] or [recently released game]. That tends to lead to about 50 completely similar ones sprouting on the forums all at the same time and makes a scary sight when checking out the Popular Forum Posts box... bar... magic thingamajig.

Secondly when writing a post make sure to give it some meaty [written] content and not just a video or image on it's own that you think is somehow relevant to the thread's subject otherwise you'll land yourself in some trouble pretty quick.

Oh and Watch out for T-H-E-M!

Seriously check out the RP forum it's a fun place.

"My advice would be that spelling, grammar, and coherence matter, so reread every comment and/or essay twice before posting...

...and also ensure that each of your posts is related to your previous one in such a way that if you were to print your entire post history and stack them, they would form a cohesive novel with an invigorating plot, immersive world, and refreshing characters. I'll turn a profit off of these someday, dammit."

Timothy exclaimed breathlessly from the gazebo, as Marcia poured more tea and smiled wryly.

My advice is please don't talk like you are texting "I mean lik dis" it's just annoying really. Stay classy and fabulous. Don't be a dick. Staying classy saves lives.

Before creating a thread, use the searchbar to see if someone else has already made your thread idea in the last couple of months. And if they have, don't remake it.

Also, have a complimentary gif, on me . . .

I can't help but think that you might be hinting at something.

OT: I just realised someone made the joke in my last post already. God-dammit.

Remember that someone disagreeing with your opinion isn't necessarily a personal attack on you - try to avoid getting too emotional or aggressive when discussing/debating something with another user.

Also, try reading your post aloud before you actually submit it - sounds ridiculous, but sometimes it helps. :p
Listen to this person. Seriously.
I once read something in a post that made me feel like I was being cut to the bone, and I typed out a very
harsh reply. I stopped, re-read the reply, modified some of the language, then stepped away from the computer
and tried to think about something else for a few minutes. Came back to the computer and re-read my reply.
Modified it further, including words like 'please' and phrases like 'it seems to me'. Re-read again. Posted.
Turns out--the person I was replying to had been being sarcastic in what he'd said, but the issue was so
close to home for me that I hadn't been able to see it. Guy was also pretty chill. I'm *very* glad that I
stopped, re-read and re-worded my replies.

If you want to answer somebody quote them
also if you wonder how I made this clickable box, quote me to see how I did it, this applies to everything people do that might be "slight coding stuff"

If it seems to you that someone is being overly-argumentative or offensive when exchanging posts with you,
click on their avatar and take a look at their profile. Making an evaluation of their number of posts relative
to their forum health meter can help you come to a conclusion as to whether or not it is worth your while to
engage with the individual. For example, if someone had been overly-argumentative with me, and I clicked on
their profile and found that they had less than 50 posts and their health meter was already in the red--I
probably wouldn't continue to converse with that person.
Profiles are accessible to the public for a reason.

I thought "Don't drop the soap" was the most universal advice anyone can give...

Oh well, I became a member a few days ago so I'm a newbie. Other than that...I got nothing.
I've been to a few forums so I'm weary of the universal rules that are given out like no trolling or advertising.
Most of the rules basically boil down to this
1. Don't be an asshole
2. No porn
3. If you comment, have it mean something instead of an "I agree"
4. No advertising. If you post a link, give a description
5. Spoiler cover your videos or big images
