Saying that Christians have no right to talk about atheist actions because of the actions of other Christians implies our ownership of those actions. These people are atheists who have committed horrible atrocities who I'm sure you have no more connection to than I do to any crusader. The point I'm making is that its pretty foolish to bring up the Crusades in a religious discussion in the modern age.

Hmm, except this Kraken guy is apparently an atheist so does that make your comment a fail? I think it might. Also, that is 2 atheists and ET (Although I still dont know what ET did that was so bad.). Also, there is no such thing as Atheist history because that is just called history whereas you can get the history of christianity... and it wasnt just christians who were involved in the crusades so stop being so self-centred. Christians always think that Atheist dont like them when they say religion, honestly do you think christianity is the only religion?
I'm not an Atheist.

I hoped you would say that, would you kindly look at this quote "They asked if I was familiar with the teachings of god. I said I'm not a very religious person and I would prefer to stay that way". So you arent an Atheist but you arent much of anything else if it will help your argument in a miniscule way... Pointless believing if you abandon it at the drop of a hat.

Interesting, we found a crucial piece of evidence in establishing the links between us and other species.

Instead of discussing what advances this could have in the fields of science, let's instead bash creationists. How dare they think differently.

Oh, if only you knew about the crusades? Whats that... you do? Well, this doesnt make sense... why would you be complaining about people saying relevant things about religion rather than people prancing around the world murdering people... Yeah, do I need to say more?
So every creationist is an intolerant psychopath?

Way to be ignorant.
Apparently I do need to say more, fantastic. NO! But everyone who was a part of the crusades was... I never went out of the crusades, I never said anything more about religion than that! The only thing I was saying is you are defending people whos religion has caused the deaths of so many people and what deaths have the people on this forum caused? 1... maybe at a push. And you are jumping around like a god damn monkey slinging crap at people that havent really done anything to deserve it, by the way the monkey crap thing is the best thing I have typed today (in my opinion).

Modern society has advanced, religion included. So I don't go around blaming Christians for the crusades. Mainly due to the fact that the modern Christians where not in the fucking crusades.

This would be like me judging Germans based on the actions of the Nazis.

So no apology for falsely accusing me of ignorance? and youre point is? I never said mordern day christians have anything to do with the crusades... other than their religions blood drenched history.
Then what was your fucking point? Are you saying you brought up the crusades for absolutely no reason?

If you do have a point then your original post was so convoluted it was hard to find it.

Still no apology? Well, thats rude. My point was to put youre hatred of people typing words at chrisitans that arent ever going to see it, into perspective, regarding what other methods SOME people use on people they disagree with.
I'm not going to apologize because I have nothing to apologize for.

Your point is irrelevant. You brought up the Crusades, yet the methods of converting people in that time period are not used by the vast majority of religious people in this modern age.

Really, there's only one way to settle this.... a temporary ban on the quote button.

But Honestly this is just another nail in the coffin of creatonists (of all religions) and while they'll never stay buried we can just laugh at them behind their backs

Plus for the Crusades we're a number of things, they showed corruption in the church and it's brutality in short the crusades alone dissproved Christianity.

But

and it's a big but

The Crusades have nothing to do with this topic so move on and grow up

You can't prove evolution, just like you can't prove creationism, so just get over yourselves you jerks sitting on your throne of logic, looking down at every other theory out there and saying " You are inferior because you are not logical!" Your just as bad as creationists.
uh there's something called evidence there's no evidence of god there's a fair amount of evidences for evolution admittedly. reason why atheist don't like intelligent design doesn't really stand up to Occam's razor
I always find it humorous when atheists bring up Occam's Razor in these circumstances, an argument originally used to support gods existence. No other point to be made here, just found it funny.

I never said I believe. I was never using my religious standing to support my position.

I may not believe in religion but I am not so narrow minded that I have blocked it from my mind. I am willing to hear other peoples beliefs and respect these beliefs. I don't use religion or science to make myself appear smarter.

When Darwin wrote the Origin of Species he was not trying to destroy religion. He was trying to advance the field of science. Yet most people use evolution as a way to destroy religion. It's not about science anymore. Now it appears to be about finding a way to make people lose faith completley, because this would apparently advance society in some way.

Isn't it

Creationism: How the first spark of life began

Evolution: How we have such a wide variety of living creatures

Therefore they can both exist in harmony. We just don't have much evidence of creationism yet but it is possible
They could exist in harmony, I'm not a christian myself because I believe that giving a name to that thing that is not explainable then claiming that your interpretation of that great thing is the best of those things with no more proof than anyone else is foolish (read: I am a deist) I believe that evolution and creationism (of some sort, certainly not christian creationism which i will get into later) can and do in fact fit together very well. The problem is christian creationalism (headed up mostly by american far right wing christsians). Christian creationalism leaves no room for evolution as a valid idea for the way things are now. It relies on a very very literal translation of the bible, as exemplified by this peach of a museum here:

http://creationmuseum.org/about

http://www.flickr.com/photos/rauchdickson/sets/72157600537493754/

It is my belief that complete rejection of the divine is foolish, but complete faith in the narrow view of a few men from 2000 years ago is twice as foolish

I have to admit, you're pretty good at debate Judo, but your possition is still weak. In the same way there is no Atheist history there is also no Christian history, there are simply Christians and atheists in history. I've no more connection to the Crusaders than you do, which was the point I was making by bringing up atrocities committed by atheists. The Crusades are a commonly recognized Christian atrocity, while there were other groups involved the Christians are the ones recognized to be in the wrong, so my defense of them specifically when you made the reference was reasonable. If your view of the Crusades is different then you are in a very small minority and shouldn't assume that people will recognize it without explanation.[/quote ]

The Karate Kid had a weak position (One "S") and an injured foot and he still won. Except there is a Christian history... the bible is full of it... there is Christian history and it ties in with history but Atheist history doesnt exist because it is just normal history because people dont do things in the name of Atheism, much like there is English history that ties in with history of the world. Also there should be no such thing as Atheism, if Christianity is belief in Jesus and God then why should there be a thing for not believing that as well? Surely we should just be called you know... normal.
Also, if you are willing to wait 12 hours I wont be tired anymore so I could clean up my side of the argument a bit... word it a bit better and maybe some better punctuation.

I don't concied the connection between modern Christians and people who were Christian hundreds of years ago, but fair enough on the 'in the name of' argument. The important thing to remember there though is the most of those situations the organizers were disingenuous at best. The Crusades were about land and money, the Inquisition about power, and extremist the world over is more about dispair than about faith. But, you brought it up and you were trying to make a false point with it, so I countered with a false point of my own. Sleep well and I'd love to take this up again at a later time.

Wow, as of writing there's 13 posts and it's already religious.

Anyway, good. I really hope it's legitimate because it'd be a huge plus for science.

(See, that was a more subtle dig at religion.)
Religion is subtle to me, they yell in the city centre about how I am going to hell... ME... ME! Dont go pointing your fingers at me and blaming my life style for all the things that are wrong with the world, bloody hate-mongers... and yes they do monger hate... my hatred of them for their bloody shenanigans.
I can't stand religion - I see it as unnecessary and pointless. Others can take it how they want but I do object people trying to force their views on others - more specifically me.

I've never understood why they yell at me (us) about going to hell. For one I don't believe in it so its already ruled out. And two, by shouting at people are they going to get themselves into their heaven? Probably not. SO WHY DO IT?
Agreed, whole-heartedly.
Way to be ignorant. The idea that every religious person wants to convert you is ridiculous. In my entire life their was only one time someone tried to convert me. They asked if I was familiar with the teachings of god. I said I'm not a very religious person and I would prefer to stay that way, and then they left me alone.

What's funny is that the people I find to be intolerant are you. The idiots who think they are smarter than others because of religion. You complain about them trying to force you into religion, yet you do the same thing by forcing the idea of evolution upon them.

Don't be a hypocrite.

I thought I should give you a second chance but now I just think you are stupid, do you even know what hypocrisy and ignorance are? We never said every religious person wants to convert us, we said that the ones that have tried annoy us. Also, we never forced our opinions of evolution on anyone... who? Come on, who? You clearly thought that we had other wise you wouldnt just take an uninformed shot in the dark like that because that would make you an idiot... or would you?
Oh yes mighty overlord. My stupidity is clear. I am sorry for offending you with my inferior intellect.

Get off your high horse. You say the Christians that try to convert you are annoying? Well people who try to convert you to evolution are just as annoying. My point is that the Christians that try to convert you are the minority. So complaining about them is pointless. You are judging a religion based entirely upon the actions of one small group of people.

Also it's obvious that the people here are forcing the ideas of evolutions of others. Maybe it's because they keep saying things like "This will finally make all those stupid creationists shut up". I wish the people forcing the ideas of evolution on others where the minority, but they're not. From what I have seen, most so called intellectuals can't tolerate religion at all.

Glad that you see your folly. Well, there is alot of truth behind evolution and well... we all know about religion. Also you know I dont judge christians solely on them being bloody annoying when doing themselves some converting, I also take into consideration their history and actions. Basically everything that is important when judging something.
Also, I dont think a creationists first thought when they see the title "New "missing link" for evolution" is going to be "Wow, I bet this forum is going to have nothing about creationists". And how many people have come to your house preaching evolution? None? Thought so.
The history of the christian religion is not relevant if you are tracing it back to the fucking crusades. Ask any Christian person what they think of the crusades. Almost every single one of them would agree that they where a series of pointless feuds.

Blood as been spilled over many things. Should I judge every person from the south based on the fact that they once supported slavery?

Also an evolutionist has never knocked on my door and asked me to accept their ideas. However, neither has a christian. But I have seen many people mock religious folk based on their beliefs and them not supporting the ideas of evolution.

Of course it is relevant, all history is always relevant. Just because people dont want the bad times of their religions to be remembered doesnt mean that people should drop it. Also, you cannot compare a religion to a person, as Christianity didnt die and have a son and so on until you get to today because if it did people wouldnt blame what its father christianity did Billybob Chritianity Jr. Also, if i asked alot of Christians today what they thought about the christians during the crusades murdering muslims do you really think they would be full of regret? REALLY?
And an evolutionist hasnt gone to anyones door ever to spread evolution, alot of religous folk have gone to alot of doors to spread their beliefs (which, by the way, have much less foundation in reality than evolution).

Wow, page one is nothing but Creationist flame. I'm sure pages 1-5 more of the same and the age-old Creation vs Evolution discussion.

Hooray for sides! On the one hand, we all learn something when we take opposing sides, but that doesn't mean we have to oppose each other.

I believe God made everything. I believe that He made it in seven days. Days as in 24 hour days. Why? The Bible tells me so and there's no way to prove otherwise. My faith is not blind, I have seen things happen in the world at large, in my community, family, friends, individuals, and my own life that can't be explained any other way than devine intervention/assistance.

If you think that someone is able to make themselves better, or a species even, of their own power, you deny reason, and the second law of thermodynamics, specifcally the concept of entropy.

Science and religion are probably telling the same story. In my opinion, science isn't at the level to understand it fully. The science of Earth, space, and biological history is based on a great deal of assumptions that simply can't be validated. We simply can't comprehend some things scientifically because they are so far beyond our scope.

Just worth noting, they say that this is a pivotal piece of many many pieces still remaining in the Evolutionary theory. I'm not saying that it is full of holes, but think of it this way: you're putting together a puzzle, and you have it in your head that it should be the Golden Gate bridge, so all the pieces you find and place are based on the image of the Golden Gate bridge, and some fit, some require a little work to fit, and some are missing, and some are there that don't fit at all, but you brush them off as unnecessary because the image must be the Golden Gate bridge. What if the final image is really of the Eiffel Tower?

This can go both ways, of course. Creationists are trying to piece it together and make it fit the Eiffel Tower, Evolutionists are trying to piece it together and make it fit the Golden Gate bridge, maybe the big picture (as both our understanding of "science" and the the bible are very limited), is of the Pyramids. Maybe together we only have 500 pieces of a 5,000,000,000 piece puzzle.
