Personally, I don't care. I stopped caring a while ago... I admit, I used to be a fan of Twilight. But then I stepped back and just said "What the fuck am I doing?" and walked away, never looking back again.
But I think you have to look at the Twilight demographic to really get it-- girls ranging the age of 8 to 98 and are either single, are unsatisfied in their relationship, have never had a healthy relationship, or just have some severe daddy issues. Most of them are about as deep as a cookie sheet and might have just enough brains in their skulls to fill an egg cup... collectively. Don't believe me, watch this sort of fascinating video--

You'll get where I'm coming from.

To sum it up- Good for them, good for the economy. Will it affect the movie industry enough to possibly destroy it? I don't think so.

The Behind Enemy Lines sequel was better!
They made a sequel to that? How does that work then?
(Off topic, I know but I already posted my thoughts and opinions on this)

EDIT: Ignore this, got my movies mixed up!

...Who would have thought that THIS would be what causes me to lose my faith in humanity?

We are in a recession, and yet people still manage to dig deep to really contribute to society.

WHO THE FUCK DOESN'T LIKE VAMPIRE MOVIES, HUH?
Im sorry if we prefer our Vampires to be dark and gory, not in love and fucking sparkle in the sunlight.
Don't forget ultra-violent and burns in ultraviolet.

You know, regardless of how crappy everyone says the Twilight books and movies are, none of them can deny that there is something inherently appealing about the series. Otherwise, it would not be so successful.

11-13 girls are powerful.
I wouldn't be so quick to say that. I've seen it twice so far, and each time I hardly saw any kids at all. It was mostly middle-older teens and women in their 20s-30s. I went to a 4:15 PM showing and a 10:15 showing, it was the same both times.

People are so simple minded nowadays. It's so easy to convince them that something so unimaginative, so uninspired, is worth going batshit over. We as a race have A LOT of mental defectives that need one, or 50 slaps upside the head, daily.

I would totally endure the two weeks in a holding cell for punching Stephenie Meyer in the face. Who's with me?

meh, anything with lots of fans/advertizing/telling people it is cool will do well in the market. Twilight, Harry Potter, iPod, Scion, Halo, Wii, CD players, DVD, cigarettes, tapeworms, etc.

I'll spend my money on things that are entertaining to me, and others can spend on things they want to. I'm not going to tell people how to waste their money.
Nice touch with the tapeworms. Personally I think your right, but I also think people are having Harry Potter withdrawl. They're really craving a hit of strange fantasy that makes a little sense. Nobody told them that they're switching from crack to god awfull swag. lol
P.S. drugs are evil....

I dont doubt it
thousands of teenage girls are currently obsessed with twilight
besides that i did see the movie and it was good
really it was
most of the flaws of the first were fixed and the characters actually showed some developement an depth throughout the course of the movie
also just to point out it seems that alot of you guys hating on it havent seen it yet
i could be wrong but no one has given any legitimate reasons for hating it
maybe some of you are just a little pissed that the fangirls finally got a decent movie
but what do i know?
