Yet another example of Alucard's greatness is in the Castlevania games. And in Symphony of the Night, you get to play as Dracula's son himself. B . A .

had to point this out, if you mean the black baboon looking things in spiderwick, it's phookah, not pookah.
I was referring to the habitually lying animal-based fae creatures from White Wolf's Changeling system.

Thesis: Vampires were not ruined because of one series. Summary at the end.

Mythological refers to creatures from stories. Much like how Cryptological refers to mysteries, and biological refers to organic, cellular, proven life. Cthulhu counts, even if he's not scary. How bad can he be?

mindless bloodthirsty animated corpses

bisexual chess players who spend large efforts seducing and drinking from one particular person.
Alucard is neither, but heres the thing. count dracula, according to hellsing, is also Vlad Dracul, and he was sodomized by an arab at a young age. so, i think, him saving a kid was about not wanting him to go through the stuff he went through. because vampires... kill... in some weird ways. i mean, did you see how zorin blitz was killed? grated against a wall until death!
Yes, Dracula is the exception to the rule. And since Alucard of Hellsing was inspired by Stoker's novel (to the point that Hellsing is an unofficial sequel), he is also exempt.

wait, what. didn't you just say that dracula was the one who saved the boy? that he was the bisexual one, inspired by the one woman... ah... camilla... who was bisexual, but, okay, please explain. i thought you said... oh sorry. guess i shouldn't even make this post, but i get this now. you mean he's exempt to the mindless corpse and bisexual chess player statements... but that's an oxymoron, as you said Dracula was inspired by the lesbian, Camilla, but now say he's exempt from the tendencies you said he had. so please explain, i am befuddled.

Sorry, what I meant to say was that Carmilla (not Camilla, as I had previously thought) greatly affected Bram Stoker's Dracula, the novel. The character of Dracula does not seem to be inspired by Carmilla, at least not in that regard. Sorry for the confusion.

As for the part where he saves Harker; within the novel this occurs when the young man stumbles upon the brides of Dracula and they attempt to feed on him. But the author apparently had a similar dream (inspiring the novel) in which he was approached by a woman and an old man pulled him away and said something like "He is mine, you can't have him."
