Meh, if it ain't a SNES 2, I don't care for it.
I didn't really like the N64 because they still used cartridges, used a silly controller (and that &#@*% joystick that breaks down within half a year!) and you could count all the good non-in-house-Nintendo titles on one hand. The same issues kind of carried over onto the Gamecube, except they did start using dics - but for some bizarre reason they didn't make it compatible with DVDs! And then there was the Wii, staying behind on the graphics, king of the shovelware, bringer of gimmicks and STILL no DVD support. Thank God it spoke to the casual market and was backwards compatible with the Gamecube, or else the thing would've tanked big time.
So yeah. New console? Big surprise... Backwards compatibility with the Wii, so the thing will probably be able to work with the ol' Wii-motes (like the wavebird still worked on the Wii). Better graphics than the PS3/X360, well yeah, but one would think that kind of goes without saying. 3D compatible? It'd be shocked if it weren't.
I haven't really liked Nintendo's choices after the 16-bit era. But for their sake, I hope they get more support from third parties (and actually DO something to earn that support). I mean, damn, back in the day, they had Squaresoft, Enix, Atlus and Rare pumping out masterpiece after masterpiece. They had Shin Megami Tensei, Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy. It was on Nintendo's platform that the 'Tales of', 'Star Ocean' and 'Chrono' franchises began. I mean, they had the Mother (Earthbound) and Soul Blazer (Illusion of Gaia, Terranigma) franchises for crying out loud!
