The amount of negative comments is astounding.

Guys there are no girls around you don't need to act all high and mighty. Games are for enjoyment after all.

If they modify the story just to cram a shower scene no one with internet cares about into it, what does that say about the actual non-softcore porn part of the, you know, game?
What does that say about "hardcore gamers"?

Can we say "lowest common denominator"?

Well different people want different things out of the game. The scene that will please a lot of people shouldn't take away from the rest of the game that will please you and me.

There was only ONE shower scene in the series which was in PE2. It wasn't in the first game and it sure as hell wasn't in the novel that spawned the series.

Oh well, I haven't played the first one all the way through, so my bad. The discs I borrowed all those years ago were all broken at some point in the sewers. I played the second one just fine tho, but I loved the combat in the first one better.

I never said this one thing will single-handedly "destroy and chance games have of being recognized as an artistic medium." But it's largely things like this in the industry as a whole that hold it back.

How is this holding the medium back? It?s just a shower scene. It?s not like nudity isn?t uncommon in games or even films for that matter.

And don't think we should not be outspoken about what video games should and shouldn't do. We gamers can have an influence on how the industry goes about things, but we will not do so out of some twisted idea that we should stay silent about it.

You mean what you think video games should and shouldn?t do. Opinions are diverse and numerous and no medium should be limited to just one view of art or entertainment.

It's not uncommon, no, but nudity for the sake of nudity is a low of artistic and sexual expression. In film it doesn't do much to harm the medium's artistic status, because film is already widely viewed as an artistic storytelling medium. Video games, on the other hand, are not. Your second point is true, and I never said anything against it. I know you were trying to lessen the value of my viewpoint, but in fact you ended up simply stating that none of us should express our individual ideas. Everyone should speak out about their own views on these things, myself included. I never said no one else could. But I also know my ideas on this subject are not exactly unpopular.

I don't either. Please don't misunderstand: I am not saying games should never have any sex in them. Rather, sex in games should have a point. Sex in any art form should have a point. If it is not helpful to the story, it is nothing but a cheap attempt at drawing a crowd. That says something about the worth of the work, and it says something about the worth of the medium. I have the same complaints with film, but I don't decry the entire medium because it has already produced many of the greatest stories ever told. Video games have done the same, but since it is a younger art form, most people don't see that. And stuff like this isn't helping.

I don't think games should censor themselves, I think they should be more conscientious of their motivations for it. I think the same way about film, but it has much more damaging power to video games than it does to film.

Come on guys. How much will the plot need to be altered to include a shower scene? Not much is my guess. I don't know much about this, but I doubt it'll be ruined completely by one shower scene unless it's over 10 minutes long or something.

The only people I can see complaining are crazy extremist feminists that think men seeing any bit of a women is some sort of crime against nature, or people who don't really care at all and just wanna rage at something.
