Also, the newest season is apparently supposed to be relatively decent (I also think anime Oshawott is adorable)
It may be because I love the fifth generation Pokemon and Unova a whole lot, but I recently went through the Unova seasons of the show and I thought they were pretty good. Granted, it's formulaic, and Ash's strategies/mistakes will make you want to reach in and smack him around, but it was good enough. Of course Oshawott may be the reason why the show was good in the first place. For once I can see why Ash would not want to evolve his Pokemon.

Come on, just look at this little guy! :3

Charmander as the new Pikachu?... and it actually evolves into Charizard?*... no Misty in sight bitching around?... no Team Rocket trio?... and no Ash!?...

Color me interested :)

[small]*Let's hope they don't repeat that BS about Charizard not giving a shit :/[/small]
Team Rocket will probably be in it, but they won't be the sad pathetic Team Rocket from the previous anime. Misty, like Brock are gym leaders. Not followers.
You bring up an interesting point.

I wonder if they're even going to touch THE team rocket (you know... protect the world from devastation... meowth; that's right) with a seven foot pole. That trio is probably the most iconic thing from the original series aside from ash himself. So much so that they're the only characters originating from the anime (to my knowledge) to actually make an appearance in the main series games.

If they really want to stick to their guns as a pure adaptation of the Blue/Green duology, then they'll have to leave the infamous trio out in favor of Giovanni and the Rocket grunts.

No Jessie, James, or Meowth in a pokemon anime.

It will be... strange, to say the least.

Also, Squirtle is the best of the un-evolved starters ("best" here being the subjective kind, not the statistics kind)

But Charizard is by leaps and bounds cooler than blastoise and Venosaur, even as awesome as the latter two may be.

I swear is the announcer is the same guy who did Tiger and Bunny (the way he said "The Origin sound similar to the announcer spoke in the Tiger and Bunny The Moive trailer)?
Anyway I like that the animation style is akin to the game artstyle well the one in the instructions manuel. Hopefully we see Team Rocket more as a serious threat well not aftering the character starter Pokemon 24/7.

That's... actually fucking sweet. I was always away more connected to the games than the show, so I'm looking forward to seeing this.

What? Fire is weak against rock, not neutral. Brock has Geodudes and an Onix (both I believe are rock/ground) and a rock throw can easily put down Charmander. So against Brock, Charmander is at a disadvantage (especially since Charmander's other attacks at the time would be normal type, which is also resisted by rock). Giovanni (the last one) is the ground type gym leader, and when rock hits ground it's neutral but not the other way around.
Exactly, that's why they added the chance to catch a mankey in FR/LG, for the Charmander fans.

Bulbasaur all the way though.
Charmander will learn Metal Claw when he/she reaches level 13 in FR/LG, which evens out the odds considerably (at that point Charmander will also outspeed Brock´s team). And you have always been able use Butterfree as well.

Or maybe this time we'll get the manga-based Misty who had a fabulous rack? Either way; this looks a supreme upgrade in the Pokemon anime narrative.

I guess I need to read the manga, but from what I can tell, Red IS a character in it. Not sure if he's bland or anything.

And if anything, it's about a starting trainer from how that geodude punted charmander. I think many new trainers would make such a mistake.

I know, but I don't use Charmander. I use Bulbasaur. Plus, who dosen't want a Mankey that early in the game.

I just hope Charmander learns Metal Claw and he catches a Manky before he faces Brock!

Pokémon.. I think it's truly astonishing how much milking is possible in this particular franchise. I got sick of it when Ruby and Sapphire were released. For over a decade neither the tv series nor the games have budged an inch in terms of development. But I guess it has to do with the key demographic, kids aren't exactly critical when Pikachu's face is on something. I've never bothered much with the anime, except that I have a thing for Misty :3

Riddle me this. What Pokemon is number one? WHO is number one!?
The best? The great Reshiram takes to the cake. <3
The truth is, Reshiram doesn't hold a candle to true Pokemon powerhouses. Zekrom is clearly the ideal Pokemon.
