I always thought Bulbasaur was the best starter. You get the instant upper hand in the first three to four gyms simply by picking Bulbasaur. Grass beats the crap out of rock and water Pokemon, and is absolutely immune to electric attacks. Fourth gym would be Erica's grass gym, so it would be an even match of Razor Leaf and whatever. Come think of it, I'm pretty sure the ONLY gym where you'll get any disadvantage will be Blaine's fire gym, and that's so close to the end it won't even matter by that point.

Squirtle will only do well until the first gym. After that you're tied with water, and horribly in disadvantage against electricity and grass. Charmander can't do squat against rock types, and Misty's water Pokemon beat the crap out of him. Only until Surge can he finally be of any use in gym battles.

As of the latest season, Ash hasn't even reached the semi-finals of the Pokemon League!

I admit, it was a good twist in the first season when Ash lost after believing he would definitely win, but they seriously pushed it.

For those who say Ash is Red, read this!
I'm pretty sure that Ash must be, like, the Justin Bieber of Pokemon Trainers. He's that shallow, immature, overconfident, unlikeable little twat that seems to be unreasonably sucessful at what he does even though he has no discernable talent.
