I think it's a massive improvement ^^

The UI used to be so slow and clunky for me. Now it's a lot cleaner and faster!
The different display formats for the Library are really nice.

My feelings? pointless... people who like the old look will be dissapointed, those who didn't would think meh. Basically a new skin.
Oh but it's more than just a simple new skin. Take a time browsing all the new stuff, and you see it's more than a new makeover.

You actually have a working webrowser inside the Steam Overlay and a bloody clock! The game library also has more functions, the new download manager is great, the way you navigate through the steam store is much improved, and a whole lota new stuff.

Looks neat, have to give it a try, I never liked the old UI to be honest. Maybe because it was "hard" to navigate, hope this is simpler for me. =P

The biggest issues with it is (besides MW2 redownload) is you get no community/store pages, but that's okay for me, because it saves money.
xD

Steam, helping you through the recession.

It's pretty good. Much easier to use and woot, there's a clock on the overlay. Also it looks bloody brilliant compared to what it was.

The beta has been out for a while.
And it's bad. Very buggy.
Did you leave the beta early on? A few testshell errors and some early bugs aside, and the occasional failure to load the big icons in the Grid view, I think it's actually quite stable. It has a load more features than the old version, and overall I think it's an improvement, even in beta.

I like it. Feels much more modern and updated than the last UI was. Will certainly become my new default UI.

I tried it a little while ago, and I liked the look of it, but it kept crashing and I couldn't buy games.

They really better fix that before it officially launches...

It's quite stable now. Haven't had no bugs, crashes pr strange lights flickering for quite some time. The new Steam Overlay actually holds on for more than a couple of minutes and all.

Which also coincides with the beta going full version in a couple of weeks so I guess the major bugs, crashes, bad decisions are all ironed out.

Really? Hmm. Downloading now to see if this is true. Thanks for the heads-up; as I said before, I love the actual look of the UI.

I just don't understand why they did it.
Why not change it up? We've been looking at the same thing for years now. I'm happy they're at least trying to revamp it.

Yeah I guess that's one way of looking at it.

I still want a "Random" function added. For times when i cant decide what to play. Hit the random button and one of the many steam games i have installed will launch.

OT: It looks nice but even the current one has its charm...

There's a new steam user interface if you opt to try the beta. It's kinda neat, I was hoping they'd eventually update the look.

I'm not sure how I feel about it yet, but it's cool looking so far.

Anyone else try it? Your feelings?

Edit:

For those of you who can't take the 3 seconds it takes to look for it:

It's in settings, and on that very page, you opt for the new UI beta.
Wow... that's freaking gorgeous. Switching now, thanks for the alert.

Well, I redownloaded it, and I have to say that they've improved it VASTLY since the beta a few weeks ago. My mini-review:

The good:
+UI generally looks sleek and stylish; I much prefer it to the old one.
+I love the mini-preview when you click on a game in the list.
+I also love the grid mode view to admire my collection.
+Excellent idea to include news from sources like Kotaku and Rock, Paper, Shotgun that are relevant to each game.
+I can finally look at achievements easily out-of-game.
+FINALLY there's a Maximize button.
+The best deals pop up on the right of the Store page. That's perfect for the impulsive buyer in all of us.
+Being able to run a game straight from the taskbar.

The bad:
-As of this writing, not all the games have preview pages and just have lame little icons. Penumbra: Requiem and TrackMania were the two games on my list with that problem. If you're going to give a cool page to everything else, the OCD part of me wants you to do it for all games.
-I don't like the washed-out Steam icon in the taskbar. It just makes it more annoying to look at.
-The scrollbar on the store home is annoying to use; I prefer the old "button" system.

As you can see, the good clearly outweighs the bad. Overall, a great job by Valve.
