Forgive me for laughing at this, but this is quite funny. That's why I shall wait until they fix these inexcusable bugs.

I save quite often and don't rely on autosave as that's the file that gets corrupted. I advise you to save every 15-20 minutes, it's a life saver.

Edit: Why they think anyone will use 100 saves I have no idea...
I had over 400 saves for Morrowind at one point!

One of the methods to make the game more stable when it was getting massive in save-file size was to save every ten minutes and create a new save (not overwrite an exisiting one). This started to get silly as I'd have to take time out to clear all but my ten most recent saves.

Always keep ten saves that are almost identical. When was the last time you had ten corrupt saves? I know these guys make buggy games, but no-one can be that unlucky!!

Fallout has always had bugs when they started. the only advice i can offer is to use those 100 saves. But look at the bright side, now you know what to do when you start over

That's okay I think to myself. No problem, just retart the ol' Xbox, no harm done.
But no! The save file is corrupt and I'm gunna have to start over. 10 Hours, gone because I, like an idiot relied solely on the Auto save.

Grrr.

Anyone else had this happen? Anything I can do to avoid it, other than saving manally regularly?

Never ever ever ever ever rely on just auto save, ever.
Save often and in multiple save slots. Me personally, I always have a save slot for each level I've gotten to.

Same problem. Tried to sell to this vendor 3 different times and it froze each time.
Also you can make people disappear if you catch them in a corner.

I wouldn't do that. I was watching a gameplay video and heard you are only allowed 100 saves. though I may be wrong, since I, myself, will go nowhere near this game, buggy or not. Just wanted to give fair warning, whether I am right or wrong.

Yay, only 100 saves. I knew I should have pre-ordered this game! /sarcasm
That is 100 save slots. I thought so too at first, but if you save multiple times in the same slot the number doesn't go up.

Ohhhhh, alright. That makes more sense. But, I've played Fallout 3... not their best work. So, whoever would make over 100 save slots is either OCD about one character or loves the game a bit too much to remake 100 new people.

Hell, I'm in love with Oblivion, and not even I could make more than three people without almost falling asleep within an hour on the third guy.

I learned that by playing the first Mass Effect, when it would auto save in obvious spots, yet if you do a shit ton of work and die, you have to restart from that long ago auto save. Especially when visiting the random planets, going through EVERY spot on the map, finding resources and whatnot, only to die because you didn't see that tiny little missle coming at you in time, then beginning from when you landed.

Did you ever play Arcanum? I could keep two or three characters going at once, easy!

Arcanum? I apologize for this question, but... what is that? xD

EDIT: Correction, I looked it up, and it's similar to D&D? I am into those kinds of games lol. It's like a big story, and I like writing stories, so I could so make several characters for that.

I think Dragon Age: Origins was the only game I could make ten characters and still have fun playing it.

OH! and Mass Effect. Definitely one of my favorite game series.

this happened to me today, but luckily only on my autosave.

Now I am a bit paranoid and have 2 different save slots for 1 playthrough and alternarte which slot I save in frequently. This way I will never lose my game :)

It's bad luck though, and solely relying on autosaves isn't such a good idea really...

Mine crashed when I wanted to go into the sewers to
launch the brotherhood of light ghouls into space
so it made that quest uncompleteable. It was a shame as I needed to do that quest to do a part of the main quest so I was buggered. I tried for a god 5 hours to find a loop hole around it as there is probably one but I couldn't find it. Started a new game then. Actually I found some new bugs like people standing in the wrong places. EG Ghost was standting behind the building and it was only luck I ran into her this time.

I really wish they wouldn't have released this game like this. Honestly, I wouldn't care if it was delayed a year, if they were able to fix all these bugs.

100 unfortunately. When really I think there should be an infinite save slots, you never know how many you will need.

Also I think it was infinite on Fallout 3 but I am not sure...

was infinite on F3, and I just checked again, its 1000 on New Vegas

and tbh I think limiting save slots its pointless, if need be we can just remove the save files and store them somewhere else, opening more slots (though i doubt any1 will use 1k slots)

Damn, dude, I am really sorry to hear that. But lesson learned. Never count solely on auto saves. I think we've all learned that the hard way.

You one PC?

I'm on the Xbox 360 and it's 100.
