It completely blew past me until my roomie pointed it out...the new F:NV trailer opens on an Enclave Eyebot sailing down the highway, with a bumper sticker which reads "My Child is an Honor Student at Roosevelt Academy".

Roosevelt Academy's part of the D.C. Wasteland, this is three years after FO3's events, and with the destruction of their main D.C.-area bases, it makes sense that the Enclave's East-Coast remnants would want to regroup with whatever part is still out West. And with Vegas being the last significant city on the continent...yet, not a scrap of info on the Enclave being in the game seems to exist, aside from that Eyebot appearance.

I consider that it MIGHT just be something cute thrown in as a gag, but you never can tell...so, thoughts?

The Enclave are going to be there because it's a Fallout game and they're always there, and the bumper sticker is a gag.

Okay, I'm going up against TWO Strong Bads on this one, but yeah. The Enclave was the US shadow government, tied in close with Vault-Tec. Cali and D.C. would have been far from their only resources...the fact that they had the go-codes for every single Vault across the country would by itself argue against that.

Enclave will be there for sure. Even if it makes little sense, they'll be there. Also, the super mutants will probably look different again.

I thought the Enclave were being left out of this one. It doesn't have to be an Enclave eyebot.

You really think the Enclave can survive it's president being murdered twice, bases in D.C and California being destroyed?

Naaa I think it's gonna be more about Super Mutants.
Perhaps they're trying to revive? That would be fun. "WE ARE SO CLOSE, SO CLOSE TO OUR FORMER GLORY." "ENCLAVES, MEET MY MINI NUKE!".

True, but why doesn't the eyebot play American style patriotic songs instead?.

we have no real info on the politics behind the enclave now that the president has been "killed" again
but yeah it could be a reprogrammed one too

i don't really know the mechanics of the thing either, is it just a flying radio? cause that would be pretty useless to have flying around if not for propaganda

That's kinda the whole thing about an Eyebot, though. It's an Enclave-built propaganda radio and recon drone. That's all it is, no one else builds or uses 'em.

Yeah, the bumper stickers and license plate (?!) throw me too. Maybe it's a refurb job, sure. But with a "Roosevelt Academy" sticker, it's still from D.C., so whoever rebuilt it...

I think that was a broken eyebot, after a certain Mr Prez went, away, the eyebots would have gone into automatic.
Which would explain the song its playing, thats just what it picks up out there.

Anyway I expect the Enclave to be in the game, broken and attempting nothing more than survival, they lost quite a lot in DC so I doubt they are going to be causing trouble if they can help it.
It would be nice to find a lone enclave base, bearly running yet still pushing that "we are the true goverment" junk. If they are the main bad guy I will be a bit pissed, how can anybody lose so hard yet still provide a major threat?

Too right, it just wouldn't be Fallout without The Enclave to beat up.

It is the Fallout tradition to introduce the main antagonist halfway through the game, so yeah it's likely the Enclave will be featured.

The Enclave should have disappeared after the end of Fallout 2, their leader was dead, their base in ruins, most of their troops dead, etc.

But no... Bethesda had to bring them back for Fallout 3... Made absolutely no sense, much like the Super Mutants, but they had to...

Except all of those are reasonably explained. In the story. You would have to have paid some attention to it.

1) Presidents die, they get replaced. Eden was a fallback Continuity of Government ZAX. Something similar was actually built into DARPA, the backbone of the Internet (not an actual AI, obviously).

2) *A* base was in ruins. A couple of bases. The Enclave, however, was the US shadow government and worked closely with Vault-Tec. You think a couple blown bases on the West Coast means their entire network collapses?

3) As no one knows how many troops they had to start with, no one knows if they lost "most of" them.

4) You can thank Vault-Tec/military experimentation for BOTH versions of the Super Mutants, both West and East Coast.

Most of your problems seem to revolve around the idea that a continent-wide badguy outfit would somehow be forced to put all its eggs in a given basket.

I think KT has an excellent point, though: we should be seeing the Enclave, if at all, as a minor faction just trying to stay in one piece. It also makes sense that the Eyebot could just be on autopilot and picking up the local station.

How did Super Mutants and the Enclave not make sense in Fallout 3? From what I remember there was a reasonable explanation for both, or at least nothing to indicate that it didn't make sense.

On-topic: When you destroy the Enclave in Fallout 3, their eyebots are still functioning. They float around, but only play static. This suggests that eyebots can function without the Enclave needing to be present. So one could have simply begun transmitting a different radio signal after the Enclave left the area. It doesn't necessarily mean that the Enclave are in Vegas.

I really hope they aren't at least. I wouldn't mind a few hints towards an Enclave presence, but I don't want them to be a major antagonist.

Probably not, the story revolves around some sort of civil war between the New Californian Republic and Brootherhood of Steal. (The N.C.R. was formed at the end of Fallout 2, and the Brother Hood was allies but not part of them, why they would fight is beyond me)
