He already is an Elder, they just don't like him since he became a humanitarian.
There was some mention about him being booted from the ranks for "going native", after which the Outcasts split. Perhaps the specific title I'm thinking of is different.

Ah, there's "demo" and there's "demo". The MoT version was pretty obviously just for public consumption, more of an advertisement piece than anything else. But the L.A. version was very clearly meant to demonstrate the actual technology to the government and investors. As such, it had to be a working model...but just as obviously would have been pretty bare-bones about it.
So they'll staff it with expensive robots, but not with the dime-a-dozen miniguns? The Master could have scavenged or even built the bots, the CoC was able to reprogram a couple of brainbots to serve as greeters.

I'm pulling my data from the FO Wiki timeline. It says Poseidon was on board. And since I've never heard of Greenway, I have to assume they're also part of the non-canon (until it's canon) Van Buren project. So this is just continuing the derailment, here.
Poseidon still wanted the prison, so they screwed around with the AI a bit (the ODYSSEUS/ULYSSES split was a lot more foreshadowing.) but not much else.

In an entirely different angle, there's a dialogue file for a robot similar to both the Eyebot and the Floating Eye that was designed to be a tour guide at the Grand Canyon.

And http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Greenway_Hydroponics was a pretty big deal in Van Buren. Van Buren's background is pretty much canon; it's referenced in Operation: Anchorage, The Pitt, and Point Lookout.

Remember, the Enclave were purely an off-the-charts outfit, and their entire schtick was that they were engaged in influence games throughout the US government and military-industrial complex. Essentially, they're the guys Eisenhower warned us about. -:)

So it makes sense they would be involved in tussles over military contracts, especially if those contracts were otherwise slated for companies with few or no actual Enclave ties. Yet that wouldn't mean they were in any way inimical to the DoD itself.
Yes.

Just yes.

Well, so far as I'm concerned you get a gold star for going to the sources for facts in the first place. We may disagree on points, but it's refreshing to talk to someone who actually knows something about what he's talking about. -:)
Well, at least someone gets the point of what I'm saying. Being the worst reply of the day in the Priate user group does make me question what I'm arguing about, though. :/

Ok so I made an account just to remind you lyons says that they have tried to communicate with the west BoS but they will not reply and that they most likely dont want anything to do with their other factions if they are still alive. He even says the chicago branch goes rouge. So that means they already have the methods of communicating. Personally I think the enclave would have some stake in New Vegas b/c possibly appearing in a cliffhanger at the end? As for the eyebot I say its either enclave or just a reprogrammed one destined to sing about his spurs that jingle jangle jingle and nothing will stop it of that message.

According to Fallout wiki...

In Fallout: New Vegas, there is an Enclave Eyebot. This, however, is the only Enclave presence in New Vegas.

So...problem solved about the Enclave, and possibly the trailer (Unless *Dramatic pause* there is a second one!!!!?!?)

As for why it's there, who cares? Computers go wrong, wires get crossed, and shit happens. All you need to know is that an Enclave Eyebot went rouge, and ended up in vegas. Who knows, maybe it intended too, maybe try to retire peacefully after the Enclave pressence in the east coast was defeated.

In addition, the Enclave was never very big. They have never and will never recruit, and the Oil Rig used pregnancy cycles like Vault City. The Enclave would have died out within five generations anyway.
Uh, call me crazy, but did you not specifically enter an Enclave base as a recruit to get Vertibird plans for the BoS in Fallout 2?

You really think the Enclave can survive it's president being murdered twice, bases in D.C and California being destroyed?

Naaa I think it's gonna be more about Super Mutants.
Or, y'know the various other factions in New Vegas?...

The Enclave are most likely going to be making an appearance, from what I've read the Helios solar power station is part of Posideon Energy, and Posideon was basically a cover for the Enclave, we can probably be expecting Enclave interference.

Hey smart one, check this out.
One of the ways to get power armor training in fallout: new vegas, directly from gamespot.

OR Get Arcade Gannon as a Follower and talk to him once he trusts you and he will get you to gather the remnant of the Enclave together, once you have all five together they will teach you.

The Eyebot is a follower you can recruit. The Enclave DO NOT show up in New Vegas, or at least not in my games. I have beaten the main story, so I think its safe to say that the Enclave don't show. I know more about that Eyebot, but... not enough.

Got the Strategy Guide and, yep, Enclave DO appear in the game. Not as a major faction, no, and tough to find, but they're in there.

Also, I was right about the Eyebot being from the D.C. area...and that it shows the Enclave remains alive elsewhere in the Fallout universe.

ED-E was sent from Adams AFB to carry info on its upgraded framework (plus other info) to Navarro. Since the Enclave didn't take over Adams until after the oil rig was blown in FO2, it's clear that Navarro remained a significant base despite the rig's loss. Also, ED-E was routed through Chicago with a request for the Enclave there to perform any needed repairs before sending it on its way. And it turns out that license plate bolted to the side reads "Great Midwest / Illinois 2062" in the concept art, apparently having been bolted on as ad-hoc patching by the Chicago Enclave folks.
