It's a Obsidian game running off an upgraded Oblivion engine, of course it's going to be buggy.
Naaaaaah. It's just modern gaming industry.
Not really.
I think my point is valid. Modern gaming : high budget, low testing. I understand that are unavoidable, but c'mon. There's big difference between misplaced texture and "unplayable".

I agree. New Vegas is nearly unplayable. Of course, I mean because of the mechanics they altered from Fallout 3. Seriously, no perks every level? What a joke.

Is anyone else experiencing this level unplayability? Like, the game literally won't let you play?
Nope. I spent a good four hours playing Lonesome Road last night, and not a single problem. I'm a 360 user though, so maybe there were some cross platform porting issues. Or something.

Look on the bright side though: if your game kept you from playing the new DLC then you haven't had to deal with Tunnellers. And believe me, that's a plus.

EDIT -

Well, not unusual - the game is buggier than Klendathu
You sir, win!

Every time I try and learn the special Ranger take down move from Ranger Andy in Novac the game freezes as soon as I finish talking to him. I can choose any other dialogue with him and its fine, its just learning that move and then finishing the conversation freezes the game completely. Oh and every now and again, i.e. every hour or so of total game play the game freezes, although weirdly it seems to be postponed if I save it before the time limit is up.....

I gotta say - I don't get how people are so tolerant about this stuff. This is literally a broken game being sold here.
Uhhh, because it has an interesting story about the rebuilding of society and civilisation coupled along with political turmoil rising from different beliefs. Told by interesting characters with unique pasts and opinions of the world that are very entertainign to listen to.

The game also features improved RPG elements from Fallout 3 along with a much wider variety of weapons, improved dialogue system, better writing, better voice acting and more gameplay additions to add to the game.

Not to mention the DLCs are some of the best I've ever played, for any game.

I really hope you're joking.

OT: The only bugs I've ever had for New Vegas are a couple of freezes and slowdowns, I don't think I've ever had a quest broken or characters go missing or anything unusual.

If only there were a mod you could install to `fix' that.

...this is of course assuming that you are playing on PC (and why would you not?).

Reasons for your problem.

1: You didnt buy New Vegas for the PC.
2: You bought New Vegas for the PS3.
3: You bought a PS3.

Im mostly joking with you! :D Dont worry. I own a PS3 too. Though i dont play it much.

Honestly, all these "bugs", "glitches" and "errors" everyone talks about i havent encountered once. I may get the random crash every hour or so, but i quick-save after every gun fight.

I have Lonesome Road, and ive played it flawlessly.. But i suggest you get a computer that can handle most games, and start buying your game for it. I own all 3 consoles, but im a computer gamer for a reason. Everything is just slightly better.

I had the same problems with Oblivion and Fallout 3. However, I think my problem is an outdated video card and only 1 gigabyte of RAM. I had to crank my in game grahics settigns down to teh lowest possible just to play, and even then it gets all laggy every now and then.

Of all my time with Bethesda and Obsidian products I've only experienced one glitch that has ruined the game for me(I got stuck in a mountain in NV), though I am a avid user of console command to fix stuff.

Though buying a Bethesda/Obsidian game for a console is asking for trouble.
Still for once I blame Bethesda wholeheartedly, you could have given Obsidian more time and actually handled your bug fixing better.

So, anyways, no bad experiences with New Vegas here.

EDIT: No, wait! There was this one guy that walked upside down on the roof.

I've been OK with the PC version- it's crashed a few times but hasn't messed up my saves.

I've just bought the other 3 bits of DLC- I finished on Wild Card and I'm running through as NCR now.

Does anyone know which (if any) of the DLC allows you to finish the game (I mean one of the official endings) and keep going? A la Broken Steel for Fallout 3?

Hm, I still don't understand this. I didn't suffer from anything except an amusing glitch with the geckos on my 360 playthrough, and in my current PC playthrough all I got was a couple of crashes at the beginning that have yet to occur again.

Conversely, I encountered far more bugs when playing Fallout 3.

Your best bet it to just clear the game data utility. I used to have problems with fallout 3 slowing down like that and it fixed them all right up. It only takes a min and you wont have to redownload anything and it wont effect your saves.
Except for his DLC. Which is why DD sucks.
Tell me how is this dlc any different then that of Fallout 3?
He may have the Game of the Year edition. If so, he can install the extra content from disc rather than download.

I just got Lonesome Road and am having some huge problems with it. This has got to be the buggiest console release I've ever seen. And I put up with it because the gameplay is pretty much the best of its type available.

But seriously, this is MADDENING.
