Heading north of goodsprings at lvl 8.

Bad idea.
Run into some Giant Radscorpions (AKA: Tanks) with some Cazadors (AKA: Armored Air Support)? Yeah, I did that too. Stealth Boys are the only reason I got through it.

agreed with people who like it being hard

the only thing that ever restricted my killing was having enough bullets, even then i could just hide somewhere while fawks killed everything

Cazador(s) are absolute bitches to kill. They're fast, tough, can poison you and come in SWARMS. I actually die a bit inside when I see them. Nothing seems to kill them, even on very easy which I put on just to fight them. Ive just got past level 20, and they can still rape me through the nostrils.

That and Deathclaws. On FO3, I didnt worry about them once I was level 10, maybe lower if I had the dart gun. Now, I just run. Run very fast, and leave Boone to get slaughtered for my survival. Same with Rex. They are meat shields for Deathclaws.

I disagree!

You are exploring a world, my friend. Filled with monsters that guard their wares.

I think having Deathclaws wait it out until you are powerful enough to face them ruins the immersion. I found the quarry camp early-on in the game and kept heading forward. I was greeted by an Adult Deathclaw and promptly ass-raped. Guess I can go back soon now that I've leveled up and bought some sweet-ass weapons. That's what this game is all about. Like Zelda, can you enter any dungeon right off the bat and look around? No. Some things have to be off-limits at first, that's what gives a game replay value.
You make a very good point. You know what, I agree!

But only under the condition that the placement of powerful enemies makes sense and is fair to the player. A cave filled with and surrounded by Cozadors right next to the road your weak character is supposed to take to continue the story is just plain nasty.

Yes, the game is extremely well designed so you can't just run from Goodsprings to New Vegas... Quit bitching and go anywhere else...

Or just level... it took me like 2 days before I could pretty much go anywhere... (ED-E + binoculars means I see deathclaws from a mile away)

You wandered into strong enemies. Level up then come back. Thats how RPG's tend to work.

You explored, you stumbled onto a pretty hostile area, now you know where to go when you gain levels.

I think that is totally fair... once you are leveled enough you're gonna go back there and be happy as shit just pwning all of them.

At level 5 I decided to head Southwest. Encountered about eight or nine feral ghouls. Ran away to encounter no less than six giant radscorpions. At once. At level five. On the very hard difficulty setting. With hardcore mode on.
Did you make it?

I just recently discovered Cazador on my way to Vault 22 and they killed Rex, Veronica and me about 20 times, in the end I loaded an oldish save to get past them. I'm level 14 with like 84 Gun skill and can't get beat them at all.

Incidentally, I'm level 14 and haven't gotten inside the Strip yet, not sure if that's how it should've worked out or not.

My attempts at exploration are constantly being thwarted, by an enemy no man can conquer. It is invincible, immune to pain, and can not bee seen coming. and every time I meet it, I must lower my head in disappointment, for I know I will not get past it. It is the bane of every explorer; the dreaded invisible wall.

Seriously, this fucker shows up way to much. It's really hurting my opinion of this game. The invisible wall rarely appeared in Fallout 3, unless you went to the end of the world. But in New Vegas, he is everywhere. Constantly taunting your attempts to explore the unknown. Basically a big fuck you from the game developers, as to were to lazy to design the environment properly so they wouldn't need invisible walls.

Nothing kills my immersion faster than hitting an invisible wall.
Yeah, I've noticed that as well. It's quite irritating, especially if you want to avoid some mutant infested territory by taking the high road.

Anyway, I got sick of the campaign after launching a ghoul cult into space, so I went back to Goodsprings. You stand there in the cemetery, and New Vegas taunts you with its bright lights (at night, obviously). So I decided to go there with Boone in pack. We made it down a ridge, at which point we've encountered the flying death known as Cazadors. Ok, let's try this again, psycho+incinerator...nope, death. How about taking the freeway to the side? You reach a mining camp, whereupon you are informed that the area up north in infested with death claws. I eventually managed to sneak my way through there, although I saw at least five of them on my way. Not much in the way of exploration, huh?

I'm not bitching, if you can't tell from my post, I found it kind of humorous. I only got worried when some people here acted like it hadn't happened to them. No, I actually like it like this. It's way better than Oblivion's enemies-level-with-you approach.

Cazadors are the hardest hitting enemy in the game, even at level 30 they can still be a pain, then I discovered C4 and I just set traps for them.

So by that reasoning it would be fair if when you stepped out of the Doc's house at level 1 to be surrounded by Deathclaws? Remember, once you're leveled enough you're gonna go back there and be happy as shit just pwning all of them.

Thankfully, they were a little more considerate when creating New Vegas.

Although I really loved NV so far, I agree with you. F3 had little to no invisible walls within the game world, NV seems to use them all the time when then want to corral you somewhere.
Sometimes they just seem completley random. Like they just put them there for no reason. Take this for example;

I could walk up that hill in real life, but my character treats it like an insurmountable sheer cliff. It's not like there's anything important up there. It's not like letting me explore that area is going to break the proper flow of the game. It's just a hill. Bethesda wouldn't have put a wall there. Why Obsidian did his beyond me. Probably part of an important wall in another area and they didn't bother to see if it overlapped other areas unnecessarily.

EDIT: Wow. After exploring that area a bit more, I found an even worse example of this. There's one invisible wall that isn't even represented by anything. There's no hill, even a tiny one you should be able to climb over anyways. It's actually going downhill. God damn Obsidian, I want to love your game but why did you do this?!?

Obviously having an enemy that powerful at the very beginning of the game right outside your spawn would not be fair, but that doesn't exactly make it an apt comparison.

I encountered those same Cazadors NW of Goodsprings when I was attempting to take a shorter way to New Vegas. In the end I went the long way southeast and then north again to get there. That's called game design and it was an obvious choice to make the easy quick route from Goodsprings be guarded by bad-ass enemies.

In Fallout 3, a group of 3 death-claws killed my father after we had left the simulation vault.

Had to restart the whole goddamn GAME because they were always there, no matter what I did.

I have leveled up. This isn't my first RPG. I'm a Bethesda vet. If no one else is experiencing this, then I'm wondering if this is a bug. 8 Strength, 84 in melee and my attacks are barely hurting them. Weapon is in great condition as well.
I'm sure melee attacks DON'T work on deathclaws.Too bad there's no alien blaster because in fallout 3 that was basically insurance it not dying.....well that's actually better because now you'll have to fucking WORK!

new title:NEW VEGAS MAKES YOU FUCKING WORK FOR COMPLETION,NO MORE ALIEN BLASTER INSURANCE!
