Yeah sure the games can lead to injury. But aren't kids always playing games like that?

OVERPROTECTIVE PAREEEEEEEEENTS!

Edit: just looked at the survey from the link. 83% agree with the Health Departments decision. What has the world come to?

Are kids allowed to do anything anymore?
It's just fear mongering from insane parents that want to forever wrap their children in bubble-wrap. It's taboo to let your children live anymore, just in case they get a boo-boo.

I injured myself a million times when I was younger and I'm all the better for it.

You could totally misinterpret the names of the games. I mean, people "touching you" and "kicking your balls" =P

Seriously though, it's like politicians don't want kids doing anything now. First it's sitting around playing video games and watching too much TV thats bad. Now it's sports that are bad. It's just a bunch of crap that spews from their mouths really.

Edit: I guess overprotective parents are part of the blame too.

People who believe in this will raise frail children who are failures at life, people who rightfully think this is bullshit will raise children to be the opposite.

Besides i think this has more to do with reducing accidental damage to the city rather than actual facts.

It's your messed up legal system's fault. They're afraid of being sued so they take away everything that can even scratch the little fatties.

"Land of the free" indeed... soon you can't even blow your nose without a written contract, just in case your brain flies out.

This just in! US Health Department deems walking to be an unsafe activity for children!
- "Well, you see..Just think of how many times people have walked into traffic. Or walked and tripped due to a pot-hole, or slipped on a banana-peel! We want to eliminate this threat, forever!

Really?Unsafe? The worse that will happen is a scraped elbow or knee. Sure they hurt like a *****, but o what, deal with it.

Wait, what's that I hear? Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No! It's a giant flock of helicopter parents! As they swoop in to stick their noses in places they don't belong, listen to their very distinct warning call!

Well, what with aliens, marines,PMCs and a dude with a nanosuit running around killing each other, I guess I can understand why they wouldn't want kids playing outside...

While dumb, it's not as bad as it seems. They aren't banning these sports, just saying that any recreational centres that participate in 2 or more of these 'dangerous' sports must register as a 'summer camp' so that they can be properly supervised (And properly legally protected)

While this law is a good idea for things like horse riding and scuba diving (also on the dangerous sports list) tag and dodgeball are just rediculous, they are great sports, as you are constantly moving, and require next to no equipment, including safety equipment because the worst injury I've ever heard of while playing them has been a scraped knee, or a cut hand or something simple like that.

Considering how health crazy America is at the moment, this seems VERY counter-productive to solving the obesity problem. By doing this, you're only going to make children stay inside and get fatter.

I played those kinds of games all the time when I was younger, and the only kind of injuries I suffer were scrapped knees, some cuts, and maybe a little loss of pride through losing. But that's all part of growing up. Not only are these games fun, but they toughen you up and teach you humility and good sportsmanship.

By taking away these things, you're only hurting your children in the long run and making them into crappy adults. And that can cause harm to not only them, but in a way America as well. Because these children will eventually be the ones running the country.

Maybe I'm being a little harsh, but that's how I feel about this kind of thing.

Billy, go outside and look at the clouds while standing perfectly still.

God, it's like you're ENCOURAGING kids to do nothing but play video games.
