I can imagine that's the only difference between the upcoming Zelda and Twilight Princess.
and a different story.
Don't count on it.
Any reason why I shouldn't?
He's probably referring to the fact that most Zelda games require you to save the princess. Of course, the major point of the storytelling in the Zelda games is not what you tell in the story, but how you tell it that makes it so great.

This news helps calm me of my fears that the next Zelda will be horribly dumbed down to appeal to the Wii's massive audience. You can't quite make a Zelda game with a grown-up Link and not have it feel like a Zelda game.
True, also considering major changes are meant to be made, who knows how this story could pan out. And if I'm honest I think what they should do is reserve the Wind Waker esque link for 'everyone' and keep the main canon story for the die hards.

Am I the only one who thinks Spirit Tracks looks like a fun game?

Geez... if you jizz yourself over Grimdark, go play Age of Reckoning. I was on Wind-waker again a few weeks ago and it ages amazingly because of the highly stylized graphics.

I don't care about "mature" or "not mature." All I noticed was "Legend of Zelda," swords, and "Wii Motion+."

I don't care what the story is, I'll buy the game regardless.

Both styles have their merits. Frankly I think that making console Zeldas grimdark, and portable Zeldas using Toon Link and cel shading is the perfect solution, best of both worlds.

I like it how Nintendo have finally realized that gamers want MATURE GAMES
I certainly don't. LoZ:TWW was damned good, but so was TP. I don't care much about the style, as long as the story and gameplay are solid. 'Mature' is by no means an equivalent of 'Good'. I really don't see the point in wanting 'darker' and more 'mature' games. Since when did everyone become so emo? A video game is an escape from reality, so why does it have to be 'dark'?
Most of us don't have evil dark lives from hell, so playing a game where everything is sad and evil IS an escape. Allow me to pose a real-life escapist situation:

You are a kid, playing with your friends
Anyway, something happens (in your imaginary game) and one of you dies (ding!)
Back when I was a kid, EVERYONE wanted to be the person that died.

Why does everything need to be so "mature" and "edgy" nowadays? I liked Windwaker...

Ahh well, I'm sure I'll like it anyway.
Very much this. Even with the terrible sailing system, Windwaker still felt fresh and new, while TP seemed like the GTA4 of the series; dark and moody and significantly less loved. I was perfectly content riding kangaroos on the GBC, Nintendo. You don't need to change your appeal now that I'm older.

Are we going to see Link take the path of Solid Snake? Will Link be grey-haired and hilariously mustached soon?
Frankly, I'm happy for everyone who loves Zelda. I mean, I could be angry all day at Nintendo for not coming out with any new concepts and blah blah, boo hoo. But the fact is that Nintendo aren't going to give up their franchises and we've been lucky enough to have most of them be actually very well done games.
What I'm confused about is Nintendo's promise to make this Zelda "more mature". Really? Is that where you see your target audience being? You want a "more mature" character? Nintendo have been good enough to create a console for everybody. Now they alienate those people by creating an incredibly popular game and... making it "mature". It doesn't make me angry, just confused.
I would like to see some new IPs, but I don't expect them from king Nintendo.

Shhh, we cannot let people know we fans of that game exist. Quick, we must return to our underground lair and stay in hiding.

Wait, what? I can't remember anyone wanting to die back when I was a kid..

I'm not fully opposed to mature and dark games, but I just don't see why every game should be dark and mature.

Where's all this talk of a "mature" Zelda game come from? And why does it need to be matured? All I've read is describing a mature (ie adult) Link, akin to the one in Ocarina and TP. Whatever path they choose, Nintendo always seems to take the right one with their flagship franchises, so I'm sure it will be amazing no matter what.

I streamed Nintendo's E3 pre show and was gutted when a new Zelda didn't show, so the latest news pleases me. If only I could lay my eyes on that piece of concept art...

Adding motion plus sword-play for enhanced combat experience would prolly be a really good way to improve zelda.

As for the mature part.
Am i the only one who thinks twilight princess except he actually gets freaky with zelda in the end?

To those worried that the next Zelda will be too mature, don't be. Zelda is a series that no matter how dark things are, it still has to appeal to everyone. That's why there wasn't a large amount of blood, gore, or grittiness in Twilight Princess, despite the more realistic art style.

I'm curious if Miyamoto is feeling a bit distanced from Nintendo for some reason.
Yeah, there was that announcement before E3 about how there is more to Nintendo than Miyamoto then Iwata takes the center stage at the press conference and tells everyone how his great ideas have saved the company before unveiling a pulse monitor. Weird.

Anyway, reinventing Zelda for new controls was a great idea on the N64 and worth waiting for so hopefully the Wii Zelda will follow that pattern. I like Wind Waker art but I'm happy enough as long as we don't end up with some obnoxious wise cracking mook friendly badass.

By "mature" basically it just means that it'll use "photorealistic" art instead of cel shading (at least by the Wii's standards photorealistic) and will feature an adult Link instead of a child as the hero. He may (and in fact should) have a beard.. that's about it. They still have to have the gameplay appeal to everyone so not a lot of blood and gore and no Princess Zelda titties.

twilight princess DESTROYED OoT in terms of gameplay and yet I defy you to find me ONE gamer who honestly thinks TP was the better Zelda game (and please don't be pedantic by going find that guy).
Erm ... this guy? Ocarina of Time wasn't a bad game at all, but frankly, I won't put its gameplay on that high a pedestal. I can't think of anything that Ocarina of Time did that Twilight Princess didn't mirror or improve. The general atmosphere of the game, I felt, was much improved as well, especially in terms of the characters motivations (For example, Link ends up saving the world as a result of trying to save his village, as opposed to simply being told to do so)

I welcome the idea of Link being aged up a bit (I'm sick and tired of adult Link and his three expressions), though I take it with plenty of salt. What I do worry about is whether Nintendo is going to try and be more like the other two companies and make the game inappropriately "gritty". Zelda isn't gritty, let's be honest here, and I don't think anyone really wants to play a grittily dark zelda game.

But then, I'm not a real zelda fan because I liked The Wind Waker ...

If they tried to actually make it "mature" in regards to more edgy, it would probably just be a god of war knock-off with gimmicky controls.
